So on the way out of Barrett last night I discovered I had a wicked vibration at hwy speeds and still felt it at lower speeds, seems to be noticeable at 15 mph & above and get worse with speed. I crawled under and noticed that I did a decent number on my rear driveshaft tube right before the connection to the joint (apparently I still need work on picking lines). There are 3-4 small dents in it and it looks like the balancing weights are lifted a bit (I am still running the factory drive shaft). I am starting to think it is out of balance, anyone know of a good way to test for that?

I am assuming if that is my problem there is no good way to fix it or it is not worth the cost, so what is everyone else running if I need to upgrade?

A driveshaft shop can rebalance a shaft but based on the vibrations starting at such a low speed I would say just as likely bent. I will dig in Drew’s parts pile for his old one. (Boot is torn off but shaft it balanced and straight)

If you decide not to replace with another stock then there are many aftermarket options available. (Tom woods, JE Reel, Adams, or you could go with a local driveshaft shop) They are all LEGO parts so it is all about who you are paying to weld and paint and warranty their work. I would go with 1350 joints on a rig as big as a JKU.

Locally you’ve got Sacramento Driveline in west sac he does really good work. Additionally there’s Adco in shingle springs. I hear they do really good work.

A-Driveshaft out of Auburn can fix it or build you a new one. I'v used him (Bud) for over 15 years, he is great.

It is now called B&W Driveline Plus

Jamie, any other damage? Did you make it to the lake? How did you like the trail?

Well, I was only about halfway through the gate, literally 7 feet in to the trail, before I tipped in to the post. I thought I just got a small scratch from the top of the post but when I got home I noticed the door handle pushed in and bent the metal behind it, not bad, I think I can pull the handle off and massage it back out. Other than that just rash on the under side. We tried to get me through the middle rock garden but it started dragging out so I parked it and jumped in with Brad so we could get to the lake and have lunch.

The trail was awesome, learned a lot and cant wait to do it again!

Jeff Bakken should have a spare driveline at his place if you are looking for a cheap replacement.

I run the SacDrivelines that Gil mentioned.

Um...what?

Is "Drive Line Service of West Sacramento" the shop you and Gil are referencing?  https://www.drive-lines.com/dl.....index.html?

Thanks for the Sac Driveline reference guys, I called and talked with them, heading over tomorrow morning to have them build me a new rear. The only other thing I thought it could be was an alignment or other suspension issue up front so I aired my tires way up and hit the freeway and nothing changed (my assumption is it would still have the issue but feel different) so I am sure it's the driveline.

I've had my rear driveshaft done by Drive Line Service West Sac twice. Once was a complete replacement of the two piece shaft assembly, the second time was a retube of the rear shaft. Nice work both times.
