it was good thanks Rich you have a great garage thumbs-upI learned a lot about JK steering I even lent a hand here and there lollaughing. We had fun giving Travis a hard time here and there. The Rare parts steering is so beefy I think it will out last the jeep.

I just want to thank Kevin, Rich, Gill, and Gill's brother who came out to help me install my steering components yesterday. I couldn't have done it without you guys. I know the job took much longer than expected since we had to correct some prior poor quality work, but you guys hung in there and we got the job done! I just want you to know how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge so that I can become a more knowledgable Jeep owner. And a big thanks to Rich for letting us use his shop which I believe we all decided will now be the official Posse club shop! It was nice to have have space to work with all the proper tools to get the job done. Thanks again you guys it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed hanging out with all of you!!

I was really disappointed I couldn't make it.  The Posse is so awesome aren't they Travis?! Glad it all worked out for you.  I'll have to take a look at what you did when I see you

Well we have to through Rich under the bus.  He installed his lift kit all by himself and didnt give us a chance to have another build party at his garage to help him.  After the killer job he did yesterday at Prairie City perhaps it will be bumpers for him next... Lol

The steering saga continues.....

I took my rig over to Les Schwab in Rocklin to Rob to get an alignment done after the install. After about 30 minutes he comes to me and says that the tie rod tube has some powder coat left on the threads and he could not get it to move to adjust it. He contacted Glen at Rare Parts and told him of the situation and they agreed to warranty it. So now a new tie rod is being mailed to me and I should have it Thursday or Friday. Once I get this tie rod off hopefully I'll be able to get it apart and have a spare Rare Parts tie rod!!! clap

Can't you tap the threads in the tube(if you had the right size tap)?

^ This.

I will ask my machinist friend if he has one though since 1 1/4" taps are over $100 each.  Is it the right hand or left hand thread?

I think one end is LH thread and the other is RH thread, and it's a 1 3/4" tube.

Well no luck on the taps.  Did locate a 1 1/2" but no help on this.  Maybe try soaking the ends in a paint/finish remover and then chasing out with a small wire brush?  Would have to refinish the exterior and wouldnt chase out the threads if they are really the issue, but might work.

I do have a larger tap and die set but I'm not sure if it goes that big. I'll have to check. Also, it would only be LH so maybe try Kris's idea for RH.
