Im sitting at the Rubicon staging area in Tahoe..Still a fair amount of snow..All I have to say is that you better bring a few gallons of bug spray..The flying/biting bugs are worse than I have ever seen....I have the windows closed in my patrol car and there are thousands of bugs all over the windows and hood attracted to the heat 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

It is going to be a crowded weekend up there on the Rubicon. There is a Poker Run tomorrow, and another 100 or so rigs coming up from the bay area for a run..I would bet the traill will get cut all the way through this weekend..

That should be fine for our group. We'll probably only go to the bowl, or possibly ellis.

Fun day yesterday. There was around 15 vehicles in the group. There was Brad, Scott, Jeff, and myself from the Posse. I turtled at gatekeeper when I slid off the big rock but made it the rest of the way without incident. We ran into Jeff along the way and he joined the group. There was a jerk kid in a buggy who thought he owned the trail but was later arrested by the Sheriffs (DUI maybe?). Made it to Ellis where there was a Bronco stuck trying to get up a big snow bank. I think Scott may have helped to winch him up. Turned around and went out Wentworth. I think there was one bent tie rod, a bent pitman arm, and some plastic fender damage in the group. My Dad had a fun time for his first Jeep run. 😀
Brad, what did I miss? Can you post a link if the others post pictures?

I'm almost positive it will happen.
Not even close!
Less than 1/4 mile past Ellis there was a tree across the trail.
Most of the "awsome" people breaking trail were unprepared. No one had a decent size saw and most didn't even have winches to self recover. Jeff can share, but camping at Ellis (where there was a huge multi-step snow bank in the coming back direction) was probably a mistake. Everyone wanted him to recover them becuase they didn't have a winch to get out. Also, most people were doing stupid things that would get certain groups worked up.
The 100+ rigs were on a poker run - they were running a different trail. There was almost no one on the Rubicon. It was perfect. There was snow, and a LOT of water, but there were zero mosquitoes and it was 68 degrees. Perfect weather.
We had 15 rigs in our group. Everyone had at least one locker and at least 35" tires. No one broke but we did see one bent tie rod. One other rig had problems too. I think he had a bent track bar, but others thought it was something else (he lost all his left turn capability). Everyone made it home safe. I have pics but I was usually leading so my pics are more of the trail, than rigs. We ran in through Loon, up to Ellis and out through Wentworth. It was a great day. We were home by 7.

That sounds kind of elitist...I can't wait to get my JK and become a snob too
I won't let the rest of you post any pictures of anything but JKs :hack:

The moderators don't have a problem with non-JK photos, but they do want trips posted over there to have a JK emphasis. There is one photo I saw over there that has Kevin in it. I think it was a gatekeeper shot.

Ok. I've never tried posting links or albums.

Is this viewable to anyone? It has about 20 photos in it and at least one with Kevin (not getting stuck).
Let me know if this one works. I'll keep looking for others.

Um...there were "other" people that you didn't see on the trail this weekend. 🙄 The trail is cut to Rubicon Springs.
