Was this a shop weld from last time? Seems the metal has fatigued around that area. Maybe some frame plates/ reinforcement is next
Brian, actually, it was done the time before the last time the Jeep was in the shop. It has survived the Rubicon (in reverse), 2 x Strawberry, up a forest road near Strawberry, & Hell Hole, + 4 miles into the Rubicon (normal direction), & more runs I can't remember. I discussed reinforcements with Marc yesterday, with a pending simple design. I can't see any other way to fix this. There also is a yet to be determined reason why it failed, other than the weakened frame metal scenario (which may be the reason). It would be nice to have an aftermarket bracket bolted to the reinforcement plates so it can be unbolted & replaced on the trail, which also was discussed. I'll follow up on repairs as it progresses.

I agree. I think it's time for an overbuild! Rebox the frame with .250 wall. Then fab a new gusseted bracket of the same material and ensure it is bracketed across all three demensions.
It's fixable.
This is exactly what I discussed with Marc yesterday. Maybe to then bolt an aftermarket bolted bracket on, so it can be replace on the trail if needed.

Sorry to hear about the track bar issues.Glad you all made it off safely and that AAA saved the day.
I once ripped off the whole steering box. Used a trail welder and continued to run Barrett.
Thanks John, thankfully the Ratchet straps Came to the rescue, otherwise we still would be out there hand steering!
