OfflineThis run will be the "lunch at the lake" trip!
35's and 1 true locker are required! No aluminum TPS sensors will be allowed.
Pace will be solid as we manage the 7 miles to the lake in 4 hrs or less.
Meeting at Freshpond Chevron at 8 AM. Leave at 830.
Pack a lunch!
There will be a vehicle inspection at Freshpond. Make sure your rig is up to snuff.
For those of you wanting a more recreational trip, please look for the next Barrett post that will be a 'best effort" trip.
update. This trip is being rescheduled because of a conflict on my end. If others want to run it, that's fine but I won't be there!
I will post a revised date shortly. This will be after the fordyce run. Sorry.

What is this trail like Brad? Can you provide a clue?
Not Brad but...
It is very much like running the Rubicon but more compressed (shorter trail).
The big difference is the trees are very tight at the top with can cause door/window dings if not paying attention.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

OfflineLike john said it's similar to the rubicon. They now have bypasses for most of the really hard stuff. I found some pre bypass pictures of john and me on the trail. I'll see if I can get them to Kevin for posting here. There is still one challenging non by pass area. Oh, and the first hard part is 20 yards into the trail! It's fun!

OfflineI would like to do this, I have the high lakes exploration on the 6th and 7th, but there has not been much intrest as of yet so i will play it by ear.
Brad, when you say TPS sensors are you meaning valve stems? My jeep does not have TPS sensors? how hard it it to change them out for rubber ones? i have never changed them, do i need to dismount the tires to chance them out?

Yes, metal valve stems. If you're doing it yourself, you don't have to take the tire off the rim but you will need to break the bead to access the back of the valve stem.

OfflineYes, Brett, it's the valve stems, if you are running aluminum TPS sensors, they will need to come out before going on the run. You can break the bead yourself using a high lift. then reach in and pull out the unit. Then you can install a regular rubber stem from auto zone.
Everyone needs to know this is the LAKE run. So be ready for a lake type pace. Since trail is an in and out (unlike my rubicon day trip) stragglers can pull over to allow the paced rigs to pass, and we can catch back up on the way out (if need be). We will still spot on the gatekeeper and mid-trail rock garden obstacles.
This is a great trail!

Im not going to be able to make to this one, but i would like to get on it this year hopefully we will have another trip soon?

The parking lot is by wrights lake. Then you just drive to dark lake from there.
There will be a nice paced Barrett run later in the year.
Hopefully someone else may lead a lake run, or overnight it.
