Nov 7 2020 will be our second maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors. The spring run was on a sunday in an attempt to accommodate peoples schedules. To maintain member status you must make 1 of the 2 maintenance runs. If anyone is unable to make this event and wasn’t on the spring run or fall run last year please talk to me at the meeting or send me a PM. That said, this is about trail clearing and maintenance for the forest service. Our key goal for this run is bucking the trees the equipment knocked down repairing the trail and moving the rocks back into place.
Trip info:
Meeting place – Shell at Pollock Pines exit off Highway 50 at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting, split into groups, and will head up to the trailhead about 9:00AM.
Things to bring:
-Gloves
-Loppers/hand saw
-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)
-Tree Savers (to wrap around rocks)
-Crowbars/breaker bars to move rocks
-Water
-Lunch
-Door magnets
-Good attitude (we aren’t the police)
Please post if you will be attending. A rig is not necessary to attend as there are plenty of open seats. Just post up if you will need a ride and I will make sure you have a seat before we leave the parking lot. If this is your first trail run with the club then please review the vehicle requirements. Expect more details at the drivers meeting.

Well now that my Jeep is running and all the kinks worked out I will be there.
What kind of heart did your Jeep get upgraded with Rob?
I big up grade. Add 2 extra cylinders and 2 extra gears. Lost the manual and now an auto.
did a 5.7 hemi with a hot tune and 8 speed. It’s a different kind of a beast now

Tim and Kris, we went through the trail yesterday. We started at about 5:30 and finished in the dark. The trail is in good shape, too good of shape. There is minimal brush that needs clearing and a few dead tree on the shoulder that could be moved a little farther off the road before reaching the trailhead from the north side. Virtually all of the rock that we moved onto the south end of the trail two years ago has been moved off. The new gatekeeper on the north end seems to be holding up well. I don't know what the plan is for the maintenance run but the trail could use more rock in certain places. Maybe we can move some larger rocks so they can't be moved off the trail as easily. Given that the main trail is in such good shape, perhaps we can do some work on the spurs.
Do we have anyone who is ready to do their member barbeque? This is always a good time to do one if anyone is at that point.

any suggestions for food? My concern is the fire hazard if I would even be allowed to use a campfire or stove top to cook anything while we are up there.
Sean, I don't think we will be able to use charcoal or propane stoves by then so perhaps something like cold cuts and such for sandwiches might be a good idea or any other cold type of food.
