Great day, great friends, fantastic club. Congrats to new members and thanks for wonderful lunch.

If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.

I got home at 10:15pm. I think I win the prize for the most damage this run. First, I backed into a tree that took out my right tail light and pushed my bed side into the tailgate putting a small crease in it. Now I can't get the tailgate to open. I'll try the pry bar tomorrow. Second, I damaged my rear driveshaft (maybe on V Rock?) causing severe vibration above 35MPH. Third, I damaged something in my front driveline (maybe the left axle shaft or CV joint) causing the left front to clunk over bumps. That started after I hit a rock with the left front tire that jerked the wheel out of my hands. I ran the after run to the lake in 2WD and had no problems.

I drove home at 30 to 35MPH. It only took 3 hours! The vibration never got any worse, so I just kept going.

I had a great day in spite of the damage. The BBQ was great! Congrats to the Jeffs. Great people, great food, and some great scenery make for a great run.

Thanks Kris for organizing this run.

Wow... Sorry to hear about your rig and the long drive home... Hopefully, you can get everything sorted out.

I want to thank Jeff_R and all the other members that contributed to our BBQ!  The food was fantastic and the friendship even better!  Thank you Kris for setting this run up!  I always look forward to getting out on this trail as it is so very beautiful!

Sorry I had to bolt right after lunch.  I made it home just in time to take a picture of my daughter before she headed out to her freshman homecoming dance.

Thanks Kris for organizing this maintenance run. The Strawberry Trail was beautiful as was the after run led by Greg. And thanks Greg for leading Jeff and I to the barbecue spot with the fantastic view. A special thanks to everyone who contributed food, drink, supplies, etc. for the barbecue. I don’t think I will ever be able to eat a Bratwurst again without craving peach cobbler thanks to Lynda’s mom! I also want to thank my barbecue partner Jeff Sharkey and my wife Kathy for their help. We were worried that we might not have things ready when everyone arrived but the timing worked out just fine thanks to Jeff’s careful attention to the sauteed onions! Congratulations on your membership partner! My only regret is that I wish I had joined this great club years ago! What a fantastic group of people!!!

By far one of THE most fun days I've had out on the trail!!!  The food was amazing and the company was awesome!!!  I really appreciate this group and watching everyone work together to get things accomplished with newer people on the run, the bbq, the trail work and the comrade.  Thanks to those that trusted me to lead a little after run and the joy of rescuing a stuck Toyota.  What a great day!!  I will load pictures hopefully by the end of the week.

Um...what?

My damage tally so far: Driveshaft - $678; estimate for bed, tailgate and tail light repairs - $2,130

I have not looked at my front driveline yet to see what is wrong with it.

If you are going to continue to wheel it, I would not bother repairing the body damage except for what you can do yourself. I'm still sorry to hear this.

Um...what?

That's a huge bummer Rich. Hopefully your next run is not as costly.

The good news is I fixed the clunk in the front driveline. Cost - $00.00! My front diff drop bracket bolts came loose.

Jeff,

Flying those Bratwurst in from Germany was brilliant!  Thank you so much for partnering up with me on the BBQ!  What a great day and club!  Sadly, I won't be at our next meeting to celebrate our membership as I will be out of town.  I will have to catch everybody at the November Meeting. I can tell you all about our adventure to Moab in a couple of weeks.  Thank you for all the support and friendship!!!
