Well it looks like I waited a little long to post this run because every Saturday in October already has a club run.
Saturday September 30th will be our fall maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors and is closed to the public. The spring run was on a Sunday and this run is on a Saturday in an attempt to accommodate peoples schedules. To maintain member status you must make 1 of the 2 maintenance runs. These maintenance runs are the only way for non-members to run the trail. That said, this is about trail clearing and maintenance for the forest service, not about running the trail. Our goal will be to ensure the trail is clear where we couldn't reach due to snow in spring. Additionally we will be adding signage to the upper board, photographing the planned work areas, scoping the viability of the trailer haul route, testing the range of handheld radios (race radios), and surveying the southern spur dispersed camp site.
Trip info:
Meeting place - Shell in Pollock Pines off Highway 50 at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the upper trailhead or split into an upper and lower group about 9:00AM.
Things to bring:
-Gloves
-Loppers/hand saw
-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)
-Cant hook (if you've got one)
-Race radio (or baufeng handhelds, if you already have them, no need to go and buy one for this run)
-Water
-Lunch
-Door magnets
-Good attitude (this is pubic land closed by a lawsuit, our effort here is what will reopen the trail and keep other trails open)
Please post if you will be attending. A rig is not necessary to attend as there are plenty of open seats. Just post up if you will need a ride and I will make sure you have a seat before we leave the parking lot. If this is your first trail run with the club then please review the vehicle requirements. Expect more details at the drivers meeting.

I just want to post an update to keep everyone informed:
Thanks Kris for organizing a fun and productive fall maintenance run. Hope you made it off the trail! I got home at 6:30. Kris had Jeff Sharkey, Mike Gallagher, Jami, Greg, David, Greg's friend Phil Perez and I continue working on the main trail while he and Kevin went to check out a spur. The plan was to meet back up on the main trail unless it took too long on the spur and then Kris and company would just exit out the Hwy 88 side and we would exit on the Hwy 50 side. Jeff B. came in later from the 50 side and went to track down Kris and company. I know from radio traffic that they were able to communicate so I assume they found each other on the trail.
Greg, David and Phil Perez left a little early so the rest of us continued on the trail maintenance working our way towards Hwy 50. We finished airing up at about 4:30 and headed back via Hwy 50. Kris said he would post up on the forum when he got home so I hope they made it out okay.

Thank you Kris for organizing the Maintenance Run yesterday! We had a great group of people and got a lot of work done! Jeff Root thank you for your leadership also! You are very talented with a chain saw! I am going to post some pictures to the Photo Gallery. Sorry I totally forgot to take photos of us working. However, on this run we worked way more than any other I have been on... Congratulations Jamie for navigating through Pinch Rock and V Rock!!!!! You did great!!!!
