Just got back from our Gold Lake camping trip. This place is a must see if you are in the area and can spend a couple of days. We camped right on the lake, there are 16 camp sites that have fire rings and a couple bathrooms. The trail is OHV only so the sites don't usually fill up. Although this past weekend the first 10 were taken when we arrived Friday night. We towed our Jumping Jack trailer with relative ease but I think for next time I'm going to add larger tires as there were a couple of spots that were pretty rough. What is nice is the campsites are in the middle of several trails and sites to see. We saw the Frazier Falls (about 3 miles away). Its best seen earlier in the year but was still pretty impressive at 170+ feet tall over 240ft if you count the cascades. Next we drove to Sierra Buttes (8 miles away, moderate trail the last mile) then we hiked to the top to the fire look out at around 8800 ft. Great views from up there. We then drove the Deer Lake trail back to the camp ground. We also drove the Snake Lake Trail (Rated a Difficult). It was a nice 4 mile loop with some great steep wheeling spots. We didn't have any trouble but a smaller rig without lockers might have had some difficulty and had to use the winch a few times. We had both Jeeps the white 2dr was open with 35s and drove everything but Snake Lake with relative ease. We also cleared a fallen tree got to use the winch and snatch block for the first time.
If you want more info let me know. I'll add some more pics and video as time permits.

Liviing in Quincy I grew up camping all over that area, Gold Valley which is back behind the lake is absolutely beautiful and has some of the best high elevation stream fishing around. It's not a campground, it's tent camping, but worth it!!!
