Okay everyone, here it is, we talked about it on the Strawberry clean up run. The Intro to Fordyce Run!! Here's the plan:

We will meet somewhere in Auburn at 8am Saturday November 2nd. (I will fill in the meeting location soon) We will then convoy up interstate 80 to the Eagle Lakes exit and make our way to the Indian Springs Staging area.

The intentions for this trip is to allow anyone interested in an easy pace, intro run to Fordyce. We will make our way to the first water crossing where I will test the waters and if the group would like to continue as a whole we will. Otherwise we can go explore Eagle Lake or Pierce OHV.

There are no vehicle requirements for this run but please know your limitations. We can park you anywhere along the trail and come back for your vehicle later. Please have the appropriate recovery points and a great attitude and we will have a fun day!!

Don't forget a lunch, water and a treat for your trail guide. mr-green

Invited: Everyone

Hmm...

I have been chomping at the bit to do a Fordyce run. I suspect my 35s with a 4 door JK would have trouble on this run so riding shotgun for my first time through might be a smarter approach.

It all depends on what you are comfortable with. I think you could make it to the first water crossing at least.

I agree with Greg, 35s are enough to get you in and out of the first crossing. But like he said, it depends on your comfort level with dragging your rig over a few of the larger ledges as you leave. If you have under-body protection then you should be just fine.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I have gone as far as the first water crossing a couple times and I have lots of well used armor for the bottom side. From talking to others it sounds like the trail gets gets a lot tougher after the first crossing, especially if there is high water flow. If I do not drive I can be Camera Man 🙂

I'd take you, but we managed to beat up Jeff's rig on the Rubicon so he will be riding with me in the buggy. Anyone have an open seat for the JavaCowboy?

If anyone wants to see a map of the trail, here it is: http://fourdice4x4.com/photos/.....ce_map.jpg

We will be going in at the "start here". If all goes well, we will exit the "Exit Route" just below Fordyce Lake. Then Dan and myself and anyone else interested will take the $5 trail back to our tow rigs, otherwise you will end up at the Cisco Grove exit for 80.

Um...what?

Here's the flow rate if anyone is interested:

Only 10cfs so we should be good to go as far as water crossings.

I know you guys are already on the trail but our new calendar has Google Maps as well. I migrated the events through the end of the year with locations mapped.

Here's the one for this event... https://posse4x4.org/?ai1ec_ev.....tance_id=1
