Any one interested in a New Year's Day run? Not sure of the details because I really haven't thought this all the way through. Any interest? I'll take the truck so it will be far from an extreme snow run. Maybe this is the excuse to try and get into Bowman. I'll have to keep an eye on the snow conditions.

There's a deli and Starbucks in Safeway and a flyers across the street for gas.
I'm strongly leaning toward the Malakoff Diggins area based on current snow conditions.

I doubt it. We'll likely end up on unmaintained county roads. TNF starts their seasonal closure on January 1 for most of the system roads. Fortunately NV Co has a bunch of unpaved county roads that aren't plowed but I think the "regular" laws still apply. Can you go on something like Iron Mountain? I'm thinking something like that minus the thousands of idiots.

I don't know that we're going to make it to Bowman. We had a maintenance crew in there yesterday...they had chains on all four tires and had to winch most of the way out. That's in a one ton utility truck but there's plenty of snow now and it looks like there's more on the way.

We're not going to Bowman (about 2' of snow yesterday) but this run is still on. We'll go somewhere out of the Grass Valley area. Keep it on your calendars!

Any preferences? I'm thinking meet in Grass Valley around 9 but I'm flexible since I don't have to drive far. 😀 I want to check a few elevations to guesstimate snow but if you start in the same general area as Huck you can go into Downieville the back way. Or we can just run out Chalk Bluff road. I'm out of town today but I'll try and check into a few things. Who is in?

Oh, and it has to be some place where we travel 10+ miles in, get within a couple of miles of getting out the other side, get stuck, and then have to turn around and go back out the way we came in.

I assume this is just a mild run since its a break-in for jeep after just getting it back.

I'm shooting for something similar to iron mountain without the people. With any snow run good recovery points are a must. Other than that a 4x4 with decent tires should be fine. I've only got 32s. 😕
