It looks like I'll be finally able to hit the Rubicon for a day trip - Though its very late in the year. November 12th is the date to mark.
This run will be weather dependent, and I'll have one built JKU, but a first-timer with me. I'm willing to have a couple of built/experienced jeeps come along if there's interest. This is a single day trip, on the trail at about 9-930 and off before 5PM. We will see if the weather holds, but if it does it will be a great way to close out the season. I'll have an open seat as well.
Let me know!

Thank you for the clarification Greg. This is a single day trip, all the way across the Rubicon. 20 miles of off road driving in under 8 hours.
If this is your first time on the trail, it is best to start with the "loop" run our club does. Since this run is fulfill a promise I made to a friend back in Spring, it will be his call how he wants to run the trail.
Josh has done the day run with me before so I'll ask him to try and respond back with some insight.
Yes, Greg you are welcome to my seat!

Right now nothing major. I bought some T-case armor now that I see how easy it is to hit it. I also picked up a beefier anti-sway bar to see if I can improve road manners. Thanks for the pics! I had a great time on the Strawberry maintenance run. Great people, great country up there and a good mix of work and play.

Hello,
A day run across the Rubicon! Awesome!
Ok my thoughts. First I don't claim to be an expert. Nothing can compensate for a good driver who can read the trail and knows his / her rig.
For a day run across the Rubicon a built rig can help in both the abuse a day trip can dish out and compensate for the speed of the run. While the speed is not fast compared to some trails. Being able to navigate over, through or around obstacles is needed, simply sliding over the top of them because of a good lift or a skid plate is a plus as well. All of these things allow for a faster pace on the trail. You are only as strong as your weakest link. A rig that can't traverse an obstacle can hold up a group of rigs on the trail for some time. As a club we never leave someone on the trail. This and the need to get of the trail by dark for a day Rubicon trip needs to be balanced.
Things that help to make a Rubicon day trip successful are: A confident driver, a good lift 4" +, 35" tires or larger, winch, body protection and a well maintained rig. My two cents!
