Two years ago I offered a free 4 wheeling basics class at Prairie City OHV park.

The only cost was the $5 bucks or so to get in.

The class includes:

A walkthrough of what I carry in my jeep when I wheel and why.
A discussion on upgrades, what I did and why.
We will then head over to the 4WD area and run the easiest of the man-made hills.
We will then discuss spotting, why a driver chooses certain lines when rocks are in front them.
We will discuss winching, cable vs. rope, and when to winch and when to strap.

The group will then get to practice much of this on the harder hills in the area.
We will then have some open exploration time.

All the while participants can ask any questions they have, and myself or my volunteer friends will try to get them answered.

Any thoughts on this? Some volunteers would be a great help too!

I don't see a time when this is supposed to start or am I just stupid!confusedthinking

I'll be there, I have a possable guest coming. He has a "stock" Jeep Cherokee

If I can't build it, then it's something that should be bought.

Change of plan... I'm bringing Southern Baked Beans.  It's my mama's recipe, (if I do them right) it goes great with any picnic food and besides, Saturday is the Kentucky Durby.  Since tradition calls for mint juleps and I can't bring those I have to do something Southern...

Something Southern? I could bring my Suburban, my wife very affectionately refers to it as "White Trash. . ."

Mr Allred...to stay out of trouble, please explain to me how "Something Southern" and "White Trash" are connected.... confused

Oh I moved here from Mississippi . . . "it's a southern thing." While we love Northern CA, we miss fried catfish.. okra.. butterbeans.. hush puppies... red beans and rice..crawfish boils... and on and on. And mint juleps... and the barbecue here is weird. Not to mention no smog laws, no such thing as having to have a tag to shoot a deer . .  and very little in the way of gun control laws. Come to think of it, this is making me homesick!

Tell me about it, I'm from Texas!  So all of the above is true to me also.  They can't grow okra out here that you can actually eat, way too much alkaline in the water to make a decent pot of red beans, mint juleps don't exist unless home made (best kind any way lol). The beef is fed with alfalfa instead of ryegrass, hence; the weird BBQ.  And when you talk about gun laws, sssshhhhhdont-tell, just typing the word gun will get you in trouble... lol

However, since we are in NorCal, this is a mighty nice place to play in the mountains.  They are pretty amazing and addicting and this group is pretty laid back and kinda nutty so if we can't be in the south, we might as well be having a good time here.  party

Event starts at 10am.  I'm pretty positive it will be rain or shine.  Most wheelers don't mind a little rain.  It's part of the class.

Um...what?

Fun day! Congrats Javier and Dave!

I was a little rusty in the rocks. By the end of the day Jason and I were catching 5' of air on the jump! Rob is our witness. (Okay maybe it was only 5" but that's an extra apostrophe!)

Stopped at the $3 car wash on the way home and left all my mud there.

grin

Thanks Brad et al for a fun morning, I definitely learned a lot both from the equipment instruction at the beginning and then from the actual driving. Also special thanks to CB handle "Cheerleader" for the warm greeting and funny radio commentary.

Definitely going to start an ammo box or two of my own for my rig. My shopping list is long . . . and sadly exceeds my budget a dozen times over.

I had a great time, as usual! Congrats to Dave and Javier. I washed my truck at home after unloading the grill. Now my driveway is full of mud. I discovered that my right rear tire caught my fender lip and bent the lip and put some serious cuts in the side lugs of my tire. Not a big deal, but makes me want my lift even more now. Overall was a fun day and got to meet some new people.

What a great day!  Thank you Brad for your leadership at the event! Ryan and I learned a great deal. I took a bunch of notes on my phone and have a lot to do now.

The food was outstanding as well!  Great job on the BBQ guys!

Thank you for the Ride Kevin! Your Rig is amazing!

We hope to join you all on the Strawberry Maintenance run on Sunday.

Thank you all for making Ryan and I feel so comfortable and welcome at the event today!

Thanks everyone!

Had a great time, and the weather held.   Excellent bbq.   We had 23 rigs show up.  Training went from 1015 to 1245.  Then lunch, then free play.  Great day!

Did you try buffing it out? You might be able to save it!

Thanks everyone and thank you Javier!  I'm sure lucky and grateful to have found you guys.  I owe it all to that big orange jeep!  If I hadn't walked over to get a closer look I would have never met Brad and I would probably be playing cribbage with some Hi-Landers this past weekend.  haha just kidding.  kind of.  So proud to be a member of the Gold Hill Posse Family!!!!!!!!!!!!! party
