Last year a small group of us created a Fordicon run. This run involved heading over Fordyce, running down through Truckee, hitting the backside of the Rubicon and running that trail backwards - all in one day. Many people said it couldn't be done, but we completed the two trails in a fairly easy day.
Along these lines, I was wondering if there was any discussion about a reverse run of this same event? This would be running the rubicon, heading out at the top and through truckee to 89 north, heading in to Meadow lake and running Fordyce backwards.
Last year I found this run the most fun I've had in a long time. It was both technical and challenging. It was very fast pace, yet safe as no one broke. I think it is important to have tested rigs built for the pace, but I don't think 37's or larger is a necessary requirement. two lockers and deep water fording capability (or wearing a bathing suit as you drive) help as well.
Thoughts? John, what was your opinion of the run?

I have driven down both and neither are bad at all..Just tap the gas pedal when the front tires hit the ground and you are good to go. If you panic and slam on the brakes when you are going down, you might get to see what the back of your Jeep looks like as it goes over your head 😯
I think the run sounds like fun!!!

My second thought is, driving down Winch 3 and Winch 1 should offer a few "puckers."

You will need more than a rear 60 to survive a speed run like this. The average speed we maintain is about 20 to 30 mph on the trail except when we are crawling up the rocks and we really don't crawl, it is a modified rock bashing bull dozer run over them 😈 your 30 would come back a mangled scrap of metal..You might make it part way if you had alloy axles and CTM's, but even then you would more than likly demolish those expensive shafts..The only way to make this run and start at day light and finish before dark is to haul butt the whole way. Highly built rigs with 37's or larger are the only way to do this in that time frame.....
