Hey Posse and it's Friends,
An invitation has been extended by HiLanders to help bring in bags of concrete for the bridge building effort. The effort involves volunteering to carry 4-6 bags (80 lb each) in per vehicle until all 400 or so bags are delivered. The distance is less than a mile. It is optional to spend the night at Jones Creek. There will be some effort in coordination since there are few places to turn out/pass/turn around.
The contractor will be modifying the trail for this effort from the traditional difficulty level of 7 to like 3-4. Post bridge work the trail will be remade back based on pre-video footage that will be taken for documentation.
All volunteer hours will be recorded to go towards the FS, which goes towards OHV Grants so you'll need to make sure on tracking your time and signing the paper for tracking purposes.
Saturday 8/17 9am
Sunday will be for what bags are left still
Friday is also available for support.
Please post here so I can get some kind of headcount/names, etc. to pass on. I could probably do this in the truck, but probably not.
Thanks

Gate width is 83" at the lock box and 88" to the inside of the posts. I forgot the height to the lock box, but a 40" can squeeze under it... It's been mentioned here as well...Scorch?
However, it was indicated that entrance to the route for concrete may not involve the gate at all. Will report back on that.
Friday would be same thing....carry concrete. Every live long day....carry concrete. 😀

Huck
Jason, I've fit through the gate before with my JK, but I only have 38s. I was checking width and didn't notice lock box clearance.

Sorry Huck. This is a haul as many cement bags over 3 days as possible. Nothing more or less.
I'm considering going up Friday. Check it out to see the route modification before deciding on using my truck. If not, then I'll just help toss bags and maybe traffic direct. It's going to be tight.....

4 rigs on Friday and 14 on saturday.
I ran twice with 12 bags each. Us 4 rigs did 4.5 pallets. Saturday they completed the remaining 7.5 pallets. Everything went quite well.
I couldn't leave one of the most historic trails w/o a signature though.
Slideshow of my pics in no particular order.
