Hi Everyone, I am planning to take my jeep for a test stroll on 8/22/21 to Pierce OHV then over to Eagle Lakes and then cap the run off at the top of Signal Peak.

I'd like to meet at 8am at the Shell Station at Nyack. 41965 Nyack Rd, Emigrant Gap, CA 95715

I know that's early for most, but I am trying to be home before my kid's bed time so I like early starts. Please meet the basic club requirements: https://posse4x4.org/technical.....uirements/

Let me know if you are interested in a great time out on the trail!

Um...what?

Pierce is a small loop off the entrance of the Fordyce trail. Pierce is a fairly scenic and non technical trail. Once we complete Pierce, we will head down the first part of Fordyce trail to the first major obstacle Driveline Hill. I plan to take the bypass, but anyone that wants to play on the hill can. We will then turn off Fordyce to Eagle Lakes where there is a series of three lake/ponds to check out. We will then head back out to the staging area to start Signal Peak. Should be fairly easy. I am showing a newbie the area so I figured I would invite any others interested along. I have open differentials and 33s. I don't anticipate having to much trouble for the day.

Um...what?

I've always wanted to explore those areas.

Never have because we always just headed over Fordyce.

My new Jeep can't get here fast enough, these are the types of runs I want to start doing.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I'm very interested. Finally a run that is closer to my home!!! Not that this is the run to do it but you can hike from Eagle Lakes and cross a bridge over Fordyce Creek that is on the Grouse Ridge trail. From there you can hike up to Grouse Ridge Lookout or you can get to the lookout off of Bowman Lake Road by vehicle, park below the lookout and hike about a half mile up to the lookout. There are some huge trout in some large, deep pools if your cross the bridge and follow the trail west towards Lake Spaulding. Here is a link to the location of the bridge on Google maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@3......74z?hl=en

I've been to that bridge and have backpacked in the area. Depending on time and group, we may wander down to the bridge.

Um...what?

Will there be time to stop and do a little fishing?

Plan to talk to my wife tonight to see if we have any plans for Sunday.  I need to get out and play in the dirt.

Any idea what time roughly you plan to be finished with the run?

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I don’t plan on stopping for fishing. I would like to keep the group moving for the most part and would like to finish around 3:30pm.

You are more than welcome to bail off and fish if you would like at any of the spots.

Um...what?

If we go, we’ll hang with the group. I can use this is a scouting trip for new water. I’ll post by Saturday if we’re going, looks like we probably will.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

We will not be joining in on the run. We will join in on another run after all these fire subside. Hopefully any forest service closures won't deter from the your enjoyment. Please report the run & most importantly, be safe.

I've always had good luck fishing around the second water crossing.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

The closure is effective Sunday at midnight. What does the group think collectively? Should this run be postponed?

I won't be going.  I would hate to take away in emergency service due to an accident or something.

FYI, 50 just closed from Sly Park to the round about in Meyers.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I don't see a problem with having this run as long as everyone operates their vehicle and behaves in a responsible manner, which I know they will do. I will probably have to sit this one out due to the poor air quality since I have a respiratory condition.

I am very excited to go on runs with the group, but it sounds like this Sunday might not be the best idea. I hope everyone is safe up there and I will see you guys on runs after the fires.

Postpone... so I can get my new Jeep ready. clap

Kidding... I don't see why you can't run it if it's open until Midnight?

I used to wheel a lot. . .
