So for this years slick rock run in October. Im thinking about doing it as a 2 day trip. Doing deer valley the first day then camping at alpine lake and running slick rock the 2nd day. One question I have is I've heard people say that deer valley is a problem for full size trucks. What's people's opinions that have done deer valley?

We would be interested in attending this event, though lots of things could affect this down the road. Gil & I attended the work party were we towed trailers of rock to what I remember being the approaches to the second creek crossing. There was a couple of tight spots, but you & Dale should be OK. Beyond that point, we heard the trail got more difficult, but not sure about the tight spots.

Great idea Brent. And anyone who can't make it both days could run one trail or the other.

Depending on the day I would like to do at least the deer valley trailer and maybe the night out and the slick rock run too

JKUR's are bigger than your truck 😉 You will be fine! If anything, you will get a couple High Sierra Pin Stripes from manzanita... But I would imagine, anything a JKUR can do, you can do just fine... size-wise.

I say run slick rock first and then deer valley! Deer valley is definitely more challenging south to north and I feel slick rock would be too. It'd also be a shorter drive home once the day is over. Either way I'm sure I will be there!

I do remember there being some tight spots on Deer valley but that's probably because I picked a weird line and there was one occasion I dragged my fender along a tree because a wash out was just too darn deep/wide for me to go into.
