Saturday May 12th will be our first maintenance run of the year on Strawberry Pass Trail. This is the trail the club sponsors and is closed to the public. This is the Spring run and another run will be held in fall on a Sunday in an attempt to accommodate peoples schedules. To maintain member status you must make 1 of the 2 maintenance runs. These maintenance runs are the only way for non-members to run the trail. That said, this is about trail clearing and maintenance for the forest service, not about running the trail. We will be involved with re-opening the trail this summer so this run is crucial to identify any access issues for the completion of trail repairs to begin. Snow has been inconsistent this year and the next storm in the forecast is a warm one so I am hopeful that we will make it at least most of the way up the trail.
Trip info:
Meeting place - Chevron at Fresh Pond exit off Highway 50 at 8:30am. We will meet and after a quick drivers meeting will head up to the trailhead about 9:00AM.
Things to bring:
-Gloves
-Loppers/hand saw
-Chainsaw (please only USFS certified operators, no exceptions) and safety gear (chaps, eye protection, ear protection)
-Water
-Lunch
-Door magnets
-Good attitude (this is pubic land closed by a lawsuit, our effort here is what will reopen the trail and keep other trails open)
Please post if you will be attending. A rig is not necessary to attend as there are plenty of open seats. Just post up if you will need a ride and I will make sure you have a seat before we leave the parking lot. If this is your first trail run with the club then please review the vehicle requirements. Expect more details at the drivers meeting.

We will be there with chainsaws & gear aboard.Kris, in the past, we have split the group; half up from 50 & half down from 88, in which we have been meeting at the Shell/Subway. Is your intention not split up this time?
You don’t split groups on the spring run. You won’t make it across with the whole group. Expect winch across at least two spots.

I was wondering if I could ride along with someone on the spring maintenance run this Saturday. I'm going to install some Gen-right tube fenders and corner guards on my Jeep. I would like to get the installation started this week because this is a time consuming project and I don't want my Jeep out of service with the peak wheeling season rapidly approaching. If I do get started my Jeep will be out of service on Saturday. If I ride along with someone they will need to have room for my chainsaw and safety gear. I can meet you at Fresh Pond or some other logical location. If no one has room then I will hold off on the install until after the run because I know we need certified sawyers on this maintenance run. Thanks in advance.
