I was wondering if I could ride along with someone on the spring maintenance run this Saturday. I'm going to install some Gen-right tube fenders and corner guards on my Jeep. I would like to get the installation started this week because this is a time consuming project and I don't want my Jeep out of service with the peak wheeling season rapidly approaching. If I do get started my Jeep will be out of service on Saturday. If I ride along with someone they will need to have room for my chainsaw and safety gear. I can meet you at Fresh Pond or some other logical location. If no one has room then I will hold off on the install until after the run because I know we need certified sawyers on this maintenance run. Thanks in advance.

After very careful consideration and only if there are no other viable solutions we would allow you the privilege to join us in our Jeep.  We only ask that you not speak to us unless spoken to and avoid any direct eye contact.grin

Just kidding Jeff!  You are always welcome.  I am not sure what way you go from your house to get over to 50.  If you are willing to meet us in Rocklin or off HWY 80 someplace we could at least get you over to Fresh Pond and then if you wanted to ride with a solo driver then you could jump in with them or stay with us.  Just let us know!

Always happy to have another Jeff around!

I used to wheel a lot. . .

We survived. Trail was in good condition. Started raining towards the tail end. All in all a fun day and a few of us got to play in the snow.

Um...what?

Ah man. Fellowship and good cheer. Weird clunking noise from the 30 year old Blazer, Kris almost certainly correctly identified it as a busted transmission mount. In spite of that, a good time was had by all. The rain at the end kind of sucked. Hard rain all the way from Strawberry almost to Placerville. Had enough dry weather westward in order to dry everything out. It was my privilege to spend the day with the fine individuals in this group. Always a good time.

Thank you Kris for organizing and leading another productive and enjoyable maintenance run on the Strawberry Trail. Great teamwork. And thank you Rich, and Jamie for offering, to let me ride along with you while my Jeep is out of service. Who knew that an F150 has a longer wheel base than a TJ? winkTo say that it poured like crazy on the drive down highway 50 would be an understatement. I posted some pics in the photo gallery. Hopefully others will add some of their pics as well. Sorry I didn't get more pics and more pics of people but my phone ran out of memory so this was all I have. Time to offload some photos!

Yeah the rain sucked, but didn't put a damper on a great maintenance run! Thanks Sharkey for helping us in the back find the right line on VRock! Mental note, when the weatherman says chance of thundershowers in the sierra's don't roll the dice, I lost, it was a cold wet ride home 🙂

Why is Dale asking me if I can get ahold of some dynamite and help him with a little project?

It sounds like everyone made it up to some point in the snow & turned around...is that right, or did some make to Hwy 88? Glad to hear everyone had a good time.

Jeff, myself and Brett were in the lead and able to make it approximately 2-3 miles past V rock.  We were fighting snow for some time.  The group behind us got held up at V rock and we turned around to meet everyone there for lunch.  Jeff was convinced he could make it out to 88.  But we didn't have the time and who knows what lied ahead of us.  The snow was tricky but once ruts were made travel was easy going.

V rock seemed a little more trickier than normal.  Not naming any names, but a few JKs and a Dodge had some issues there.  Seemed all the short wheelbases ate it right up.

We cleared 3 fallen trees and one blocked culvert.  I'm sure Kris will chime in with the full report.

Um...what?

Jamie,

It was all you!  Your excellent driving and steady foot on the thin pedal to the right that made the difference!  Well done!

I know I haven't been around lately but I just looked at the gallery and saw another TJ a YJ and a 4runner. Are these club members that I have just not met before or what?

I actually had a fun time cleaning up the trail.  I'll post pics Friday night, I even have some good time lapse of the trail being trimmed.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
