OfflineRob and I went to Fordyce to catch some fish. We went in the Commitee Trail. The creek was up over 150 and not good for fishing. We saw a group of about 7 rigs coming out. One was being strapped. He had broken a rear axle and twisted the front axle tube and tore up his rear driveline. He had stock CJ axles but, "The guy he bought the axle from told him it was as straong as a D60."
Without being able to fish, we just played around on a few of the obstacles by the river crossing and then tried out the new by-pass. We got home early but it was still fun to get a little wheeling in.
Oh ya, I bent my spare tie rod 🙄
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Wow...sucks to see someone get ripped off, but come on...
My Toyota axles are about 2.5 times stronger than 60s. I will part with them for $3,500 for the rear and $8,000 for the front. Please PM me to check them out in person.

OfflineWe didn't see it coming down. But, we found it going back up. It was a fun section. You definately got rid of all that steep climb. There were a few sections that were a little tricky. One had a diff hanger right as you cleared a crest. One climb got Rob's front wheel in the air. And the final drp to the main trail was kinda steep. Once it's worn in, it will be an easy way out for the broken rigs.

OfflineNo one is really using the bypass you cut in. Mostly because it is hard to see since no one is using it. Are you guys going to block the old trail and start forcing people to use it? Also, great job! You guys got a lot of work done on it...

We are planning on blocking the main route after we do a few things to the reroute. We decided to leave them both open for a while to get the new one broken in a little and address any issues that may come up. The new one needs to widen out a little and some of the turns are too sharp. We are hoping that by having it open, with a limited amount of traffic, it will aid us in locating unforeseen issues. From the feedback so far so good. I know of the areas that John is referring to and they can be addressed. The spot where Rob lifted a tire needs to be moved over to the left a little a little (going uphill). The steepish downhill part at the top will be getting rocked in at the next FOF workday. (keep Oct 25th open 😀 ) After we are satisfied the new route is ready to take 100% of the traffic we will block the old way from the top and the bottom.
