Isn't there a trail out there by hwy 88 called "mud lake" or "mud dog lake"? I think it is an in and out trail. Anyone heard of it?

Um...what?

I found a Mud Lake up around Paynesville off of Hwy 88. If the trail is near there, it will be kind of out of the way from where we will end up. But thanks.

There is a trail that goes out to Mud Lake off Hwy 88 right above Silver Lake. Its actually off the Pardoes trail near the end.. I was just out at mud lake in my Expedition last week to do some fishing and canoeing. The mosquitos were thick!! Similar to the ones at Toulumne Meadows this week.

Trail is awful generous for the road to mud lake. I guess it could be tough in the snow or a corolla or something. 😀

If it was a Subi, it doesn't prove anything. Those Subis can tackle anything. It might still be a challenging trail.

Trust me and Bender. It isn't . If I can do it in an Expy with 220K with a worn out suspension and leaking rear shocks with a canoe strapped to the roof its not challenging....just bumpy 😛

The guy that I heard it from runs it in the snow. He said there was some rock gardens near the lake to play on. I have never been on it.

Um...what?

So, who's going, not going, and on the fence?
Who's meeting me at Starbucks and who's meeting up in Pollock Pines?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

How big is the campground? Is it filled by saturday morning? Will I be able to fit 45 feet of truck and trailer through there? My wife is out of town next weekend and I was thinking of bringing the kids for some camping and fishing.

Right now we are planning on going to the campgound. No 4x4 for me or the family . Just camping and hiking and lake stuff. So don't expect us at either meeting locations. As far as when or what time we can be at the lake campgrounds, not sure if we are going Friday morning or late (after work). I googled the location and it looks like a solid 3 hr drive from rancho so that puts me no earlier than 8 pm on Friday or Sometime sat morning.

I am out as well. I've got some stuff to do to the trailer this week and I won't have time to get ready for Saturday.

It's too bad the good trail is being run on a weekday or I would have made it a point to be there with the 4runner for a Saturday run on Deer Valley.

I heard from Lee this weekend, he is officially out.

John, Cole and I will meet you at Starbucks.

FYI to everyone, if we aren't in the campground, start calling on the cb, (channel 10) we will be camped on the road into Slick rock, which is right next to the campground entrance, after you turn off hwy 4 for the campground, to enter the campground you turn left, slick rock trail is straight ahead if I remember correctly. Alex, I can try calling you and letting you know where we are, but no guarantees you can get a non 4 wheel drive down the road.

So this is what I have for attendees:

John 100%
Larry 100%
George 100%
Alex 100% camping only
Joe and Sue possible not until Friday night.

I don't recall, but there is a store down the street that I can call you from.

I may be OUT at this point. I sliced a tire and don't have a spare. I also blew out my rear shocks and my ball joints. The Jeep is kind of a mess to drive on the road. I will be looking for replacements, but at this time it doesn't look too good.
