This run will be in to Barrett Lake for a weekend of camping/hiking/etc.

Meetup @ Chevron Fresh Pond @ 8am Friday morning.

35s, 1 locker, winch, recovery points. 85" total width or less.

This is going to be an interesting trip, as I will lead a group in on Friday morning, and then come back out by myself Friday evening. The group that stays up there on Friday will reserve campsites for the rest of the group coming in on Saturday. Friday morning group will meet at the Chevron in Fresh Pond at 8am.

Saturday morning group should also aim to meet up at the Chevron in Fresh Pond at 8am Saturday morning... but I will leave that up to the discretion of that leader.

We will need someone to "take charge" leading those in on Saturday that want to come in Saturday.

We will also need someone to "take charge" for coming out on Sunday.

Both, should, preferably, have experience on this trail if possible (not necessary though).

While at Barrett Lake on Saturday (or sunday too), there are 3 geocaches, and a great plane crash to check out. The plane crash is roughly a 2mile hike from the campsites.

What you need to do:
- Say if you are going on Friday or Saturday.
- If you can lead the group OUT on Sunday.
- If you are going in Saturday, can you lead the group IN?

The trail GPS tracks are in the link below, so there is no way you should get lost... just need someone willing to take charge on spotting people through the 3 difficult sections on Saturday and Sunday. I will take care of getting everyone through on Friday.

Is that complicated enough? lol

Those with Ham Radio, we will be on the 805PVL repeater (Rubicon's 805... 146.805- pl123.0) for emergencies. 147.555 for simplex. 50watt radios, on simplex, can reach from the campsites out to the trailhead.

Awesome!

My other club president is coming along too haha. So far, it looks like just us 3... we should be able to make a pretty quick trip of it 😛

We are still heading out tomorrow. If you don’t hear from me by 8pm, send help. I hope to have better luck than Guy.

Jeeps not packed yet. Waiting until the morning.

Um...what?

Well the good news is we are off the trail. The bad news is we are waiting for a tow truck...Barrett wins again!!

Jeff B graced us with his presence and proceeded to try the first hard rock garden before breaking a hub. Fixed the hub but managed to do something to the atlas.

We’ll keep you updated. No need for help yet.

Um...what?

It was fun until Jeff broke. Lol. It was a good time but short. He broke by 10:45 and we had him dragged off by 12:20.

We are home now safe and sound licking our wounds.

Um...what?

Wow twice in one week it’s not looking good for the posse LOL. But if we don’t play with our toys they will get rusty and break anyway. But on a more serious note how was the trail?

The trail seemed nice for the little part we saw.  Seems as though it could use some more trimming.  I was into the branches on a few spots.

Um...what?

There is a big rock at the gate that tips you over into the gate post. IMO someone just needs to move it... So far, I put a big dent in my passenger door, Jeff B put a bigger dent in bertha, and it sounds like Jamie pushed in hispassenger door handle.

Other than that, there are a couple of places in the first mile that has some encroaching branches... Jeff B put a dent in his driver door window frame on a branch. After the first mile, we don't know lol

I probably won't be going wheeling again until Mid Sept... week trip to Colorado, and a 2 week trip to New York. In between those, I am going to take a solid week to do some upgrades and maintenance to the 4runner. So, I will probably try to do a mid week Barrett run once I get back from New York ASAP.

Go in at an angle putting your driver front tire against the left post. I went in and out twice, backing out the second time as I was winching Guy off the trail. If you go straight in, you will lean into the post. Contact the Hi-landers to have it changed. 🙂

Well, it does make me feel a bit better that I am not the only one it has bitten, some redneck body work a few nights ago and it looks mostly good unless you look close grin

lol it's very deceiving... I was more careful on my way out. But going in, it doesn't really look like the rock is big enough to tip you that far into it. It is barely taller than a bowling ball. I will be writing them an email! lol

I swear I dent my rig every time I run that trail. Mostly the window frames. That trail is tough on window frames!

I used to wheel a lot. . .
