Kind of cool, but I'll pass. What do you do when it runs out of juice out on the trail?

Put out the solar panels and camp.  Not so easy to make gasoline in the woods.

Glimpse of the future right there.  Good to see someone is addressing fleet electrification impacts to crawling.  I am curious how driving style will have to change because when you let off the throttle in a basic electric vehicle the thing is essentially in neutral.  2 foot driving anywhere with hills?  Write software so the ABS pump locks the brakes when you let off?  So many questions.

All very good points. And I don't want to be a Luddite, but more computer-controlled stuff is kind of a bummer because it's more expensive equipment that can break or malfunction, and it also limits or greatly complicates modifications. . . But maybe they'll make it so cool that it actually functions dependably and is an improvement. . .

ProComp brought an all electric JK to SEMA that I didn't get the low down on but manage to look in under the hood.  It is an interesting setup and I'll be curious to see what it means for the future.

Um...what?

Electric vehicles can be equipped with regenerative braking which feels like engine compression braking when you let off the gas. Sometimes this is stronger than in gas engines. This will feel very similar to gas engine with an automatic transmission.
