This is a practice session to get you comfortable with using Skype for our meeting tomorrow. Jamie will be on the line the entire hour so call in anytime in that hour to practice with Skype. You can also join the meeting anytime before the practice session just to ensure you have the software working and want to see it before you try interacting with others when they are in the meeting (you could try it on Tuesday, end it and come back in on Wednesday and Thursday no problem). You can call in using a PC, Mac or mobile device. Advantages of a PC or Mac is that you will not have to install an application, if on mobile you will want to install the Skype app on your device. On a PC or Mac when you click the link it should ask you if you want to join via a web browser or the application. I suspect if you use the application it will want you to create an account, but if you join via a web browser you may not have to create an account. Feel free to try both ways and see which one you prefer!
I will continuously monitor the forum during this practice session, if you are having any issues post up in the thread titled “Skype Questions/Issues for Club Meeting” and I can help you get connected via that forum or a phone call if it comes to that.
A couple things you may want to try doing:
- Mute your line (audio and/or video)
- Turning video on/off
- Blur your background
- Framing of the video if multiple people are on the same device
- Get familiar with other controls of the application
