I am a prospective new member; however, I am more interested in exploring the back roads than “Rock Climbing”. I have many years of experience with dirt bikes like trails riding, hair scrambles, hill climbs, etc. Because of my love of the back county I thought I would like to explore in a jeep.
Two questions to the members:
First, is there anyone that is willing to help this ”green hone” to become familiar with how to properly use a jeep off road?
Secondly, are there any member interested in going with me on the easier mining and fire roads?
Thank you,
Chuck Haubrich

Welcome Chuck. Our club has members who do all types of offroading. The club is a great place to learn how to use your 4X4 off road and to get the most enjoyment out of your vehicle. I would suggest that you attend a meeting to get a feel for our club and its members. Green horns are very welcome and our members are very willing to help a newbie learn the ropes from vehicle modifications, off road driving techniques, vehicle recovery, etc. We will be doing some snow runs in the near future which is a great place to start because it isn't like the more advanced rock crawling we do on trails like Fordyce and the Rubicon. Another way to get a feel for your comfort level is to ride along in an open seat with a club member on a trail before attempting to take your own vehicle to see if the difficulty level of the trail is in your comfort zone for a future trip.
Please tell us about your vehicle and any modifications that have been made to it. We have had a lot of new members who started out with stock vehicles and then modified them to fit their style of wheeling. Our next meeting is on January 9th. Hope to see you there.

Welcome Chuck! It was great meeting you at our December Meeting! As Jeff Root indicated the club is a really good place to learn about 4 wheeling. I started out several years ago with little to no experience. We all have to start someplace... I would recommend continuing to attend meetings and try to make it out on one of our Snow Runs this winter.
