New Bumper Welding

I got tired of dragging my bumper on every rock and drop off so I sold my other one and bought one from Swag Offroad. They sell them fully welded and painted but I went cheap and wanted a challenge so I bought a builders kit. The kit comes with all the pieces cut and shaped. The pieces had a few machine marks but everything was well bent/ cut. The only clearance grinding I had to do was the center plate where it met the previously welded hitch. I could have welded it out of order. But seeing there were no directions I made a WAG.... The only drawback is that the sides only extend to the end of the rear cross member. The corners are exposed. I think I might have to make some corner guards. All in all I like it and It should work well. Tire carrier fab to follow.... :hack:

That looks good and appears as though it will do exactly what you want it to do. clap

I'm going to make my own design. Its going to attach to the body at four points, using poly suspension bushings. The frame is going to be 1.75" tube. Design to follow.

Ok I made some progress on the tire carrier. Started with 20 feet of HREW tube and this is what I came up with. Hopefully tomorrow I will get the mounts done.

Today I final welded the tube and Got the hinges started. They will bolt to the body tub over the Genrite coroners. I also drilled holes between each tube so that I can use it as an air tank, albeit a small one.

Almost finished. I got the carrier mounted to for the Rubicon run and it worked great! I still needed to add the antenna, whip and high lift mounts. Well it is done now. What do you think?

Looks nice Bill. One suggestion though, you might want to put a jam nut on that bolt securing your adjustable tire mount to keep it from coming loose.

That turned out GREAT! Did it work well on the Noobie Rubie Run? You spent some time on some stair steps.

Worked great! Not one rattle and didn't move an inch. Yes the stair steps were fun.
