OfflineI checked on-line and noticed that a few 2012 Wrangler Unlimiteds have started showing up. So I ran up to Auburn and test drove a 2012 Sport model and compared it to a 2011. The new motor is definitely a noticable improvement. In the 2011, the hills through Auburn on highway 80 were miserable. I couldn't gain any speed and the engine just made more and more noise as I tried to accelerate. The 2012 however, pulled the hills with ease and I was even able to pass another car on the biggest hill just past hwy 49. So ya, a noticable improvement in power.
Now comes crunch time...Do I sell my truck and get a new Unlimited? I would order a 2012 Rubicon model and it would remain stock for about a year before I would be able to lift it and throw on some 35 inch tires. But it would be a lot of fun to drive to work and take camping and fishing. The dealer offered me $900.00 below invoice on any model I wanted, ordered or on the lot. I can get decent money on my truck right now too. I would miss having a truck, but I also miss having a Jeep that I can drive around with the family in comfort...and oh boy was it comfortable. Decisions, decisions...

That's the thing, I hardly use the truck as a truck. We were thinking that we'd purchase an older truck to use for the little bit of hauling we do, and then Ben would have something to drive in the next few years.

The auto is a 5-speed instead of a 4-speed like the '11's correct?
Get what you want. The 11's and 12's have a very nice interior too.
The sales manager said, "It's all just hunks of iron to me. The more we get rid of the better off we are."
Yes, it had a 5 speed auto and it shifted very smothly. The interior is all comfy and fancy, not like driving a Jeep any more.

Does it come with a purse too?!

It is one big giant purse, complete with makeup mirror and bun warmers. Why else do you think they come with GPS and Bluetooth, because women like to talk and are always lost. ![]()
Very funny.
Nav and bluetooth are SWEET! Not sure about bun warmers and make up mirrors however...

OfflineSounds like you know what you want, quit talking about it and JUST DO IT
What is the tow capacity of the 2012?
Any idea how much they will give you for the truck? Take it to carmax and get an offer so you have something to compare it too! I took mine to carmax about a year ago and they only offered me $15k for it. I was shocked!! Trading in you will get more, but you will have to play hard ball!! Trade it soon while gas is down, when it goes up, prices go down on big motor trucks!!

I asked Folsom Lake why they didn't have any '12s on their lot to look at. They said they should be here any day. They do have a couple of over-priced '11s there however.
