I've been so fed up with the handling of my Jeep lately. The Detroit locker is a big part of it, but things lately have just been worse than ever. The Jeep has been all over the road. When the locker did it's quirky tricks I was nearly changing lanes. I had checked all my steering joints and everything is tight. I did find the front trackbar was loose again . I tightened it and things were a little better. Today I decided to get serious about checking the front-end alignment.
For checking toe-in I've normally just bungeed some scrap aluminum angle to the outside of the wheels and measured from there. This time I decided to remove the wheels and bolt the angle to the hubs for a more precise measurement. Guess what I found. Instead of being ~1/8" toed in, it was 5/8" toed out. 😯 No wonder the steering was all over the place.
I've still got the locker to contend with, but at least now the steering is fighting against me too.

does yours make a loud bang just before it throws you into oncoming traffic?
Not all the time. It's usually pretty quiet but sometimes makes random clicking sounds. Every once in a while it really unloads and sounds like I've hit or run over something.
