I'm currently running the stock axles in this Ram 1500. It has 4.10s and with 315s M/T MTZ tires on 17x9 5x5.5 non-beadlock. I won't be able to start getting my axles (in garage) under the rig till this Fall/Winter. HP60 and Sterling 10.25, to both run 5.13s, is the idea.
Let me toss this idea out loud for critique.
Get some of those cool 38 GY Kevlar MTRs. I've got enough lift in the front to clear, just need to push the axle forward like 2" to have no clearance issues. I have the material and just use stock bracket locations. Rear need some blocks OR go ahead and do shackle flip. Adjust it to make the height with the front and ensure pinion angle.
Get some new wheels for the 38s and on 8x6.5 lug pattern. Use lug pattern adapters to mount on 5x5.5. I realize this may be cost prohibitive, so ignore that for time being.
I'd just sell the 5 lug wheels and the MTZs as a package.
Then when the axle swap gets underway I've got the rollers already.
Let me know your thoughts and surely anything I'm missing the boat on.
Forgot to say that this is my DD and will remain that way for good while.
Thanks!

I've run big (1.5") spacers in the past. I didn't have any trouble with them per say but I think they were a factor in the front end trouble I had. I was running a 38.5x16.50 at the time and it just chewed through front bearings in no time. You've got more of a front end than I had but wear and tear is something to consider. I'm with John - figure out a way to make the 8 lug work. If may mean some buying and reselling but it will be worth it in the end. Didn't Rob screw up/break his 6 lug stuff?

38's on a daily driver? Wow!
I'm trying to figure out the spacers you need, and when.
You'll end up with 8 lug it sounds like so any interim swap requires a conversion to either of those bolt patterns. Why not keep your rig as is unti fall, and then swap + install the new wheels/tires with rims that match your bolt pattern?
It seems the cost of "custom" wheel spacers would be close to basic wheels? Are you trying to get on a specific run this summer?

Yeah, the adapter idea was just the ability for interim use of both sets. Run the 35s onroad until sold. Use the adapter 8 lug with 38s for offroad and migrate to DD once the 35s sell.
I haven't thought if its worth changing wheel size in going to 38s (i.e., 18" or 20"). Is it? Maybe Jason could chime in on his 20" wheels with the 40s.
In changing wheels either way, probably good idea to just go beadlock too.
Rattling the marbles around, worst case is just wait.
