Tire squeal or metal on metal squeal? Tire squeal is expected with mini-spool, avoid pavement with anything smaller than tons or you will soon break an axle shaft through fatigue (if the carrier or cross pin doesn't go first.)

If it is a metal squeal, mini-spools load the hell out of small axles. Worn carrier bearings could allow the side loading to push the carrier to make contact with the housing.

A spool locks the tires in rotation. Of course they will squeal every time you turn. And tire wear will be extreme as well.

I expected the tires it's more of metal on metal
Like wen the old Chevys brakes got down to a certain point you would get a squeal
Mite actually take back out this weekend. Really not impressed with it

But isn't a mini spool simply like welding the rear end together? If so, why would there be any grinding sound?

Sorry for my previous misunderstanding.

What type axle is it?
Which side is the squeal coming from?

C-clip axle? The end play that shafts have in a c-clip design might be enough for the hub, and thus drum/rotor, to move and cause brake squeal.

So pulled it apart again today
My rear caliper is flush against rear rotor
I'm really lost as to wat this issue is an now the seal is leaking
Ugh
Open to suggestions, going to tear it all apart and redo Saturday
Is it possible axle isn't in all the way
Could I be using wrong torque specs
I miss my TJ

Good news that it's minor!
