Has anybody used KM2's on their rigs?  How did they do for you off road?  I realize Tires are very much personal preference and dependent upon intended use.  I was also looking at the K02's but feel that they would not perform nearly as well off road as the KM2's.  I am not using the JKU as a daily driver or commute vehicle.  That said I do want a tire that performs fairly well on the street and recognize that most of the miles will likely been on the street.  I also get that a Mud tires will likely be louder and have a rougher ride on the street.

Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Jeff

Hi, I moved this topic to General 4x4.

I think we have a couple of members with KM2s. Hopefully, they will chime in. 🙂

I'm on my second set and I really like them. They have great traction off road, they work well in the rocks and mud.  They are ok in the snow all depending on how you air down. My first set 33" wore very well. They still had enough tread to be able to resale.  I'm running 35's now they run just as great on and off the road and a susprisingly quite. Now some other member use other tires that my be less expensive and work just as well.  But all I have run is KM2's.  Good luck thumbs-up

New mud terrain tires released in the past few years are now way quieter and easier to balance than mud terrains of even a decade ago.  Unless the rig will see frequent long freeway trips, icy plowed tahoe roads, or only 1 or 2 trails a year, there is little reason to consider an all-terrain any more.  Based on what you have said, you will be more than happy with the KM2s.  I ran them on my diesel truck and they we near silent until about 3/4 worn.

I recently got to see 2 different JKUs with 33 KM2s attempt an obstacle back to back.  The one running year old KM2s with the updated shoulder lug design had significantly less trouble than the one running 5 yr old KM2s.  Either the tread compound changed or the tires got harder with age but newer is better with the KM2s.

Very interesting on the results from the new vs old KM2's.  Seems like these would be a safe choice.  At one point I was thinking about the K02's but it seems like the KM2's do really well on the street so I don't see much reason to go with the K02's.

Thank you!

I'd buy these for my new Tacoma once I order it.

i am running these tires.  i love them! and they pass the wife test.  she was worried when i was getting them that the ride and noise was going to change.  she said she can't tell the difference.  winning!  i've been happy with them off road.  i think they have done very well in the snow aired down to 15lbs.  my only complaint is that my 35's don't measure out to 35"  they run small.  i was hoping to get off the ground a little more.  i will purchase the 37's next time.  and the tread is lasting forever.  side note...find the best possible price online and then show that site to americas tire and they will match it.  i wish i could remember what site i found but americas tire matched them and that was $209 per tire

Thank you!  I will look for some good prices for sure!  Seems like these are a good tire choice.
