For some odd reason I've decided to upgrade my exhaust system.
I'm thinking of the CA legal Magnaflow catalytic converter.
Any recommendations for the cat-back? Banks, Borla, etc.
It would be great to do the entire exhaust and get headers as well but that may have to wait. 😥

Marco installed my Flowmaster Deltaflow 50 series muffler and made up a tailpipe. I like he muffler and the pipe is ok but I think a mandrel bent pipe would be better.

Why? You think they can tuck it out of the way better? I doubt there would be any real difference in flow. I'd almost lean toward a custom pipe. If they're willing to work at it, maybe they can come up with something that gets it out of the way better so it isn't ripped off again in the future.

I run magna flows on both jeeps. I've had the work done on 4 jeeps at muffler tech at Madison and Auburn. Good work and reasonable prices. They've also done the work on two of my tundra's.
I think you should decide on the sound and performance you want before jumping in. My current jeeps each sound completely different. I went for "V-8 sound" on one and quieter on the other.

I'm think I'm going for the V8 sound on the 4Runner next time I need a muffler. I may have to add another engine though. 🙁 Man do I miss the Cruiser when it comes to sound. Dual Flowmasters with none of that silly smog stuf like a cat.

I had a Dynomax cat-back with the mandrel bent pipe before the Flowmaster/custom pipe. The mandrel bent pipe had a much larger diameter where the bends are on my new pipe. The typical bending process used by muffler shops crimps the pipe closed somewhat depending on how tight the bend is. I'd guess that my custom pipe is crimped to almost half it's original diameter in some spots. But I will admit that its tucked up better than any other pipe I've used.

After further inspection I think my header is cracked. I'm surpised the original OEM lasted this long.
I'm going to bite the bullet and replace the entire system. 4:1 will have to wait a little longer. 👿
Any recommendations for headers?
Should I go with the OEM replacement that now has the flex pipe built in or go aftermarket?

I feel handy enough to do this myself and save the extra $$$ on labor. Plus I like the satisfaction of knowing I did it. 😀
I found some good tips here as well :

Overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be to get it out. I was a little nervous about the header bolts when the bolts to the cat and and header pipe all broke off. Luckily the header bolts all came off easy. 😮
Ended up ordering the Borla headers and cat-back, and CA legal Magnaflow cat all from 4WD with the club discount. Should be here by the end of the week and I'll install next weekend.
