The old place used to be chicken lips, but the fellow passed away. He partner took over the business. I don't recall what the name is, but it is at the 49er truck stop off of Hwy 80 and West El Camino. If your standing in the restaurant parking lot, facing the restaurant it is in the little building to the left, with a very little undistinguished sign that says. CB's

I went down to see Doug at the radio shop Saturday morning. When you guys told me the shop was in back you weren't kidding!!! I had to drive up to a truck gate and push a button to get a ticket. The button was designed for truckers and was so high up I had to stand on my rock sliders to get my ticket! Haha! Doug was very helpful and sold me a nice antenna and coax and explained how to hook it all up. He said to bring it back over once installed so he can tune it in for me with the swr meter.
Last night a welded a mount to my rear bumper and I plan on running the coax tonight. Looking forward to a nice working cb and not losing my antenna all the time like with the magnetic one I had :).

You can get that radio tweaked with 2x-3x the output power from either Texas or Vegas. I run it in my yellow jeep. My black jeep has the stock version. There is quite a range difference, but both are clear.

That's a good point Fred. I never noticed the difference between my jeeps with that. I'm left handed, so I run the CB in my yellow jeep on the left side of my steering wheel. I've never had adjustment/squelch problems. Then, I put it on the center console of my black jeep. I have the intermittent problems just as you stated. Wierd...

Thank you. You all made very good points. My friend Mike had a linear that was so radical we would break through FM signal through my truck radio. Too much radio in my opinion unless you’re a trucker. I like the small cobra but a good point was made about buttons being pushed inadvertently. Maybe Ill go see the CB guy and see what he has lying around.
10-4.......breaker 1, 9 ...any but else out there...come back. Pffffffffffffffft. Pfffffffffffffffft.

Rob which one is this - the handheld or the small regangular unit? Is it tweaked or still base power?
I'm looking for the compact rectangular Cobra, but don't know the model.

An external speaker helps with any cb in a Jeep. I've got an external speaker attached to the rollbar in between the driver and passenger's heads.
An external speaker is a must! I can't believe I lived so long without one.
