I think the model 75 is crap!!! I had one and went back to a small traditional CB mounted overhead close to the windshield. No need for an external speaker if you go that way.

Since you always take the easy lines, you have time to play with all the dials on the 75

That's only because you're old and hard of hearing. They seem to work fine for the rest of us. Maybe you need hearing aids 😯

Sorry to revive an old thread. I was just wondering what you guys are doing to tweak your CB's.
I just installed my Cobra 75 WX ST. I'm going to that 49 truck stop tomorrow to get the antenna tuned but was wondering if I can tweak it and if I should do it before I get the antenna done?
And should I have my AUX cable plugged in while tuning the antenna? Or will it not matter much?

I'm sorry to see anyone go under in this economy. And Melyash, make sure and introduce yourself ... WELCOME!!

Wow, thanks for the report. I was planning to go there b/c of this thread... lol
Still need the whip and wire, then do a tune. Radioshack, one in Folsom, now does not carry anything but cellphone paraphernalia. lol
You all probably knew that.
Well, thanks for providing another location. Any good/bad/feedback on the shop you mentioned?

I went to this shop and had a great experience. Seem to have a good selection on equipment as I picked up all I needed, whip, coax, and mount. Includes free tune. The guy was impressed with the 102" whip performance as it showed barely noticeable change from up to military tie down.
I picked up a spring for Bill and he gets a free tune for that, which he needs.
Tunes are $15 unless you purchase some stuff. Didn't seem to be a limit on that as the spring was just under $15.
Thought to pass this on.

Excellent news. I need to get up that way myself. With all the interior out of the XJ I can probably put in a REALLY efficient system.

Sure do. I can help you with it. If you want to pick up your own they don't cost much. I've had mine for a while but I think I paid about $20 for it at Radio Shack. Here's one similar to mine for even less on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/METER-Radio-Anten ... B002KRME3C. My meter came with instructions on how to tune the antenna.

I guess I need to step up and buy one of those new meters...
My meter is an antique. Bought it from Radio Shack in 1975 when I was doing all sorts of CB installs. Good news is, the laws of physics and wave propagation have not changed in that time so it should still be good.

Huck
Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned the CB shop at the 49er was closed. BIG bummer.
