CO2 in Grass Valley

I know most of you guys are compressor guys, but if anyone ever needs CO2 in the Grass Valley area check out JF Paintball and Airsoft. The don't have the heavy duty industrial filling set up so it takes a few mintues longer, but they filled my 15lb tank no problem. It was more than Solon Fire in Rancho, but saving the time and gas money made it a wash. Plus, I can't seem to get to Rancho during their hours.

So how long does it take to fill the tank and how much does it cost? Good to hear you found a local option.

The paintball shop takes about 15 minutes, the big guys seem to just hook it up and it's full.

At Solon fire, it was $18 for 15lbs. Up here, it's $35 for 15lbs. It's more expensive, but it's a 100 mile/2 hour round trip for me and Solon isn't open on the weekends. Even in my car the gas cost is enough to cancel out.

But, I'm actively looking for a good compressor at this point. Lee, any luck finding a 22re/york bracket?

Here's some plans for one on the Pirate board. Maybe someone could make one for you.

Are you only considering engine driven compressors?

I've looked at those plans and have been thinking about it. I was just hoping for an off the shelf version.

I'm leaning heavily toward engine driven. It seems easier, I don't have much space, my alternator is tiny, and I'm still convinced I can do it for cheaper than an electric one. I don't have the belt issue that you've had problems with. Plus, I'm used to CO2 speed and I want to be cool like John. 😀 I am open to suggestions though if there's something new and wonderful out there.

Wait until Larry reads this thread...I'm predicting an, "I told you so!" 🙄 😀

Seriously though...the point of this thread was that the folks at JF Paintball are top notch! 🙂

I haven't opened the link, but if you are serious and have the specifications, Larry at Mad4wd can build it! He has some serious fabrication tools at his disposal.

I found CO2 at Airgas in Placerville.
~$150 to buy a 15lb tank. Swap for a full tank when empty for ~$20.
