I'm starting to upgrade the Scrambler. I'm getting ready to lower the transfer case from a 2.62 to a 4:1. I was thinking Lomax gears. It seems that all the manufacturers are about $600. What can you guys recommend and who should I use to install them. The cheapest install price was $450. Thanks Jim D.

don't really have any experience with shops around here. never gotten any t case gears install. you might want to do a search on pirate4x4.com. i remember seeing a thread about good shops.

I'm not sure of the location you'd prefer to do the work. Hangtown extreme is an option in placerville. I think river city differential may also do the work at a reasonable price. Another option would be to call big 0 in EDH (ask for Chris) and see if he'd do it. Good luck! T-case gears aren't too hard of an install if you want to tackle it yourself as well. I've only done two, but both were TJ cases.

the 300 has good installation instructions but you just need a press and gear pullers.

Did you check Harbor Freight? I think the press is $30 and puller is less, assuming the choice to go that route.
