Need to have my numbers reviewed so I make sure and go in the correct direction ...

Output shaft from TC: 4* below horizontal
Driveshaft: 18* below horizontal
Pinion shaft: 73* above horizontal

It appears the included angle from TC output to pinion is ~13* ... which I believe is pretty close to the maximum angle for a DS of this type.

There is presently a 6* shim at the axle ... more shim or do I lower the TC crossmember a bit?

Looking for input ...Thanks!

Tom

IMO, a CV driveline makes the headaches go away. Not the cheapest unless you fab it yourself.

I guess I should have thrown in that currently the XJ is running a double carden DS both front and rear. Do the numbers exceed the proper operating angles ... with wiggle room of course.

I don't believe so. Your angles may be too little for a double CV, but they will not be too much.

Are you getting any vibrations?

You know, I honestly can't tell. I just found out the Mud Dawg tires I'm running are about the noisiest around so it may just be tire noise ... that is why I'm checking the numbers. If the numbers are in line, I'll just chalk it all up to noisy tires and live with it until they get replaced which may be sooner rather than later.

What is the general consensus as to the proper tire/tires to run for NorCal in general?

Don't start the tire discusison becuase it will be a lot of opinions on here. Generally, the more expensive the tire the better the quality and resulting balancing/ride.

I've owned MT/R's, Toyo M/T's, BFG Krawlers, BFG Mut T/A's.

The only bad tire in the group was the Mud T/As.

The rest balanced awsome and ran awsome on and off road. Krawlers more so off road than on...

Why not call Driveline Service of Sacramento or better yet stop by and show them what you're working with? I've had great service from those guys.

Brad, what was wrong with the BFGs? Alex likes his and he's pretty hard core? mr-green The only tire I hated was a Super Swamper TSL.
