Hi folks,
If anyone is interested in making a little cash, and taking a fun 4x4 trip, I'm hoping to hire a 4x4 shuttle driver for this Saturday. I need to find a way to get 5 people and our 5 whitewater kayaks to the Middle Yuba river near Bowman lake this Saturday. None of our vehicles will be able to make it through the snow we expect to have at our destination (max elevation 6200 feet). The roads to Graniteville are most likely passable in our vehicles but there's no way we can make it the last ten miles to the river.
Would anyone like to make some cash by shuttling us there with your jeep that can drive through the snow?
We are reliable people and just don't have the right vehicles for the job.
We'll pay enough to make it worth your while. Give me a call and tell me where you live. We'll come up with a plan.
Call me or email me.

If people here can't help, another forum you might consider posting on would be http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum . There's a Northern California forum that would probably be best to post in.

My plans for the weekend look like they're going to fall through so I should be able to go too. Do you want me to get ahold of the guy?
Sounds good. I can take one in my front seat, and one can sit in the back. No seat belt or seat, but room if they don't care. How many can you take

Depends on how we can stack the boats. That was always the problem when I was boating. It sounds like they'll just be on back roads so I think I can strap most of them to my roll bar since my top is off. My back seats are out but I have room. Another driver wouldn't hurt. I've ridden in some pretty cramped conditions to get to a good river. I'm guessing they're not expecting to ride in luxury. 😀

Shoot...I just reread the post. He's only looking for Jeep help. It'll take about 15 Jeeps to carry that many people and their stuff or one Jeep and one Toyota. 8) Hopefully he'll make an exception. 😀

Hey guys,
Wow, thanks for all the offers! I hardly expected this little forum to step up in such a big way. You guys are cool in my book.
We'll ride in whatever you've got...jeeps need not be the only vehicles! As far as how many cars we need...we don't need no stinkin seatbelts. We'll hang off the roll bars if that's what it takes. We can also stack boats like you wouldn't believe. My suspicion is that one big truck might do. There may end up being only four of us. If you think two cars is better, that's fine...we can pay 150 bucks total. Considering it's only 10 miles or so of roads, I hope you think that's a good deal. So decide for yourselves if two vehicles is worth it. Either way, you'll probably get a fun weekend out of it, so why not help us out!
Our plan would be to meet up with you in Graniteville (assuming we can get there). Is there one of you I can communicate with directly by phone?
Bender, as for the paddling stretch...we're looking to get into the box canyon's of the middle yuba.

It depends on the snow. It could turn into a "winch fest" real quick. Only one way to find out though.
Keane, give me a call tonight if you get some details. I am wondering where this place is? PM'ed you with my phone number.

Rob, one thing I think I forgot to mention last night, if they get up here and the water is too low they're going to call me and cancel. They'll know tomorrow.
Nathan, I talked to Rob and we're on for 8:00 in Graniteville. I have a white 4Runner, Rob has a white Jeep. We'll look for the guys with kayaks.

We're going to drive up to the take-out spot on the river in the afternoon tomorrow. From there, we'll be able to scope out flows. Unless you get a call from me, it's on. I will try to call regardless.
Could you both leave me your phone numbers? Ken, your number might be saved in my phone, but sometimes my phone or myself is retarded in that aspect.

I sent you phone number. We'll see you tomorrow.
Is this you guys? http://broadbandsports.com/node/12442
Some of that is pretty crazy. We'll need some more details on the beer from a shoe tradition. For those at work or with sensative ears, there's one comment with some language about 8 minutes in. Other than that, it's just a darn good boating vid!

That's us...That was a collection of runs I did last season. Very fun stuff.
It's a pretty well known tradition that if you swim in class V, you will have the punishment of drinking a beer out of your shoe at the end of the day. If you swim and someone rescues you, you drink a beer out of their shoe!

We're back. It was a great time. Nathan and Co. are a great group of guys. We went up through Graniteville dropped down into Bowman Lake and climbed up to Weaver Lake. At Weaver Lake there was a nasty side hill and that was the end of the line for Rob and I. The kayaking folks hiked the rest of the way in. They were figuring they still had 3 miles or so to go.
Rob and I tried to come out on Bowman Lake Road but there were more side hills and the snow was getting slusshy. We turned around and came home through Washington.
I've got some cool pictures I'll get up here shortly. We'll have to make it an annual run! 8)
