What is your priority when it comes to your trail rig?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Voted for "nice mix" but could have also voted for "won't break down" and "comfortable".

Since lowering my Jeep a bit, it's much better to drive on-road and I don't have to listen to near as many complaints from the co-pilot.

I ended up voting for "Will drive over anything."

Even though it's not there yet, I put my money into things that will make it more capable. I hope in the process that it doesn't break down and is semi-comfortable, but in the long run, that's not the top priority.

I voted for reliability, but it was a tough choice. With the LandCruiser I was at the point where I was spending more time fixing than wheeling and that really sucked.

It's kind of funny how the decision gets hard when you break it down. Go back and think about the mods you've done in the past. Then ask yourself how they fit into these catagories. It will be interesting.

For instance...lockers are a big investment...I chose to get lockers to "Get me over anything" but I chose ARBs so that my Jeep will be a nice "mix of on and off road ability." So, it would have to fit in the "mix" catagory because I could have just as easily went with Detroits.

My Dana 60 fits into the "So it won't break" catagory. My Crusher Corners fall under the "make it look nice" catagory. And my roll cage falls under the "make it safe" catagory (which I forgot to include).

I used to wheel a lot. . .

The only thing that I don't see as something that I've really thought about during upgrades so far is the comfortable option. Someday I'll get away from leaf springs. 😀

Sorry - already voted, didn't vote for that. I get enough head turns already, so that's not my priority.

none of poll choices fit

reliably goes on most any trail and drives decent to the trail and back.

Because you've chosen two options. I seperated them into "reliability" and "comfort."

Actually I chose three.

Reliable
Driveable
Trailworthy

If I only wanted it to be reliable, I'd get a Honda.

If I only wanted it to be driveable, I'd get a BMW.

If I only wanted it to be trailworthy, I'd get a mule.

My top priority is balancing driveable vs trailworthy on a budget. The budget affects the reliability factor.

So, my comprimise is:

Goes on 95% of the trails, Doesn't live on a trailer, doesn't get towed home all the time and doesn't look beat.

Closed Mondays.
