Dyna Beads?

Anybody have any experience with Dyna Beads? I'll admit that I'm really picky when it comes to vibration but they still can't get these new tires balanced to where I want them. I looked at the Centramatic balancers since I liked them on the 4Runner but they won't fit around the brakes in the Frontier. The Dyna Beads aren't too expensive so I was considering them instead of taking the tires somewhere else to see how they do balancing them. Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with the beads, but if the tires can't be balanced it seems the tire shop should replace them. Mine balanced really nicely. I've even removed the Centramatic balancers.

Anybody know about tire balancing in general...There's a bunch of weight on the inside of both of the rear tires and none on the outside. From what I've been reading this means there's a lateral imbalance in the tires? I figured they just put it back there so you wouldn't have to see it. When they rebalanced them both rear tires were out of balance.

I tried plastic air soft beads in my 40s back in the day and they were ineffective.

Um...what?

The more I think about it the more I appreciate this little tid bit of info. I was just writing the vibration off to them being mud tires. Good to know that they may actually have a problem. I think I'll take them somewhere else to have them balanced to see what they can do.

I had a problem balancing one of my BFG tires and tried the beads but had no luck. It turned out that the tire was out of plum and BFG did nothing to replace the crappy tire. Personally I think the beads are worthless. With my MTR 40" tires I took them down to a truck tire balance place in west Sac and they got them perfectly balanced. Haven’t had any problems with them since even with all the air down and up. That’s what I would recommend doing, especially for larger tires. Hope this helps

For a true balance, weight should be on the inside and out, but tire shops won't do it unless you tell them to. To many people don't like the look of the weights on the outside and some wheels won't accept weights on the outer lip

I took the tires to Les Schwab today to have them balanced by a different place. The one tire they checked before they rebalanced it showed that it was about 11 oz off. When they pulled all the old weights off it the machine only called for 4 oz to rebalance it. On one tire the other shop had loaded a bunch of weight on one side then counter balanced it on the other side. On one tire the other shop had left the old tape weights on then compensated with a bunch of weight on the other side. Long story short the balance job the other shop had done was a joke. I didn't have much of a chance to test drive them, but they felt WAAAAY better on my brief highway test. Les Schwab 1 Goodyear Tire on Plaza Drive in Grass Valley 0. Or maybe -1 since they tried to balance them 2 times. 🙄

Rob was also 100% right. In order to balance the tires properly they need to put the weight inside and out unless they're only adding a very small amount. My rims won't take weights on the outside so they need to be balanced with tape weights.

What is weird is that only two of the tires could be balanced dynamically. The other two had to be balanced statically. I'm not sure what that means...thoughts?

I seem to always have great service with les schawb. They my be a little pricier. But sometimes it's worth the extra coin.

Glad they seem to be panning out for you.

Um...what?
