I got a HID conversion kit for the jeep and normally at this level of frustration i would of scrapped the project but the lighting is amazing and i will now do whatever i need to get them to work

Battery reads between 13.9 - 14.3 when the vehicle is running

The issues is the lights will cut out and go completely off - i will have to turn off the lights and turn them back on or switch to high beams, which is just a standard halogen bulb, for a second and they will come back on.

When the engine is off i can have the lights on forever and run whatever else i want and they stay on no issues

however when the vehicle is running they can at times be a little flickery and can randomly go off and sometimes its only one side or the other that will go out
The thing that really throws me off is if the motor is on and the lights are on they will normally stay running if the vehicle is just sitting there, however if i put a load on the system such as turning on my compressor or blower fan they are perfectly fine until I shut off the compressor or go from high to off on the blower.
The other weird thing is with throttle inputs if stopped in gear or neutral if i give it any normal amount of throttle they shut off however if i try really hard to start super slower with super low throttle input in the beginning they will stay on - they will also stay on at speed with any type of throttle input.
After this i got an additional relay kit and gave the ballasts power strait from the battery - this had no effect accept when the lights would fail the relay would click and buzz
I was told by a ricer shop that if i use the relay harness and use a toggle switch off of that it would guaranteed work - I hooked up a toggle switch and for a few minutes it did work no matter what i did they stayed on perfectly then that stopped and they do the same thing
- i have also noticed my tuner which is plugged and powered by the obd2 slot goes a little dim after the lights run a few seconds and if they shut off it goes back to normal brightness after a few seconds. I do not notice this with any other components.

Im just wondering if anyone has any advice as im not very good with the electrical - could i possibly need a capacitor or some cancellation device?

This was a fairly inexpensive kit but i as actually recommended it by someone else who has been running it with no issues not in a jeep however - i may just need to go with a more expensive kit but if i could get these running with a few extra bucks that would be great as they are already installed and the lighting is so much better and it seems with no addition of annoyance to other drivers on the road

These are HID rather than LED, correct?

HID has a ballast. If they are cheap lights, the ballasts could have poor internal wiring, but the odds that both cut out is remote. Bad ground wires are a more common problem but again both going out at once is unlikely.

What about measuring the voltage while driving at one of the lamps. Maybe the voltage changes enough to cause the ballast to re-start?

Other than that, I'm not too familiar with HID lamps...

I'm not sure I understand how you have all the relays/lights/toggle wired up. Any chance you have a sketch of it?

It sounds like you have the right parts being ballasts and relays. In stock form on chrysler products the switch is used to ground circuit for power. So in many cases like this its reversing the leads.

I presume you prefer using stock switch and so go by service manual wiring diagram.

Maybe link your lights and kits here for us and the way currently wired like what Bender asked.

Here are some links to JK installs, presuming they are along the same lines as yours John. I'm guessing you probably found these or similar. Hope it helps.

Which light technology will you prefer of headlights. HID or led? Please give some review as your answer.
