I kicked the same conversion around for my CJ-5.
There are several kits out there (well, there was when I looked into it). Mopar makes a kit that I was going to go with because of smog support. I think there was a howell kit that used a TBI set up and another kit that was better. I had narrowed it to the Mopar and the kit I can remember the name of.
It's not cheap and the mileage improvement was small from what I recall. The horsepower gain was the main benefit.

On my 83 CJ7 I used a kit made by Hesco called mopar fuel injection. It was the same system used on the Wranglers. It beat the heck out the old carb. To me its main selling point is reliability. On the coldest of mornings, just reach in the window, turn the key and walk away. No more pumping or playing with the carb to keep it running. It would aslo run perfect at any altitude or angle. No more worries on those high sierra trails. Its not cheap, but no efi conversion is.

This is exactly what he is trying to solve to. He's knows its going to cost a few bucks, but he's tired of fuel issue
