I got the Jeep done and ready for the Hammers. I'm ready to go beat on it really hard 😈
I added new and stronger steering components, grill hoop, beadlocks, rear tube fenders, trackbar brace, and rewelded the steering box.
I want to thank Rob for all his help getting it ready...

So, Rob sold you his jeep? Is that how you got it ready?

The rear flares were a pain in the butt. I have a bunch of grinder marks left. Rob wanted to buff them out and make it "purdy." I told him it was a waste of time. One trip through Outer Limits and they'd be all scratched up anyways. I just consider them "pre-scratched" 😀
If you're going to do rear flares, do them before you paint the corner protection.

I hope you got them at the scratch and dent sale.

Sniper Fab...but I won't recomend them...
They sent me bent tube but the sheet metal was flat (not bent). The design is also poor, they don't have much coverage in front. But, they were cheap and suit my needs just fine. I just needed something to keep my Jeep off the rocks and something more durable than plastic.

I thought I'd update this with some thoughts after returning from the Hammers...
The Jeep build is holding together really well. The axles seem strong enough to hold up to 37s and haven't broken in three years of wheeling hard. The wheelbase is adequate but I'd like to get rid of the overhang some day. It's no fun getting hung up on the rear bumper on steep climbs. The tube fenders were a big plus and saved me from a lot of additional body damage. The grill hoop came in handy serving as a bumper every time Rob backed into my Jeep. The extra width from the spacers and wider wheels made obstacles more stable. The .50 wall DOM control arms took a lot of abuse without bending.
Things I'd like to change...
LED tailights are in the future so I don't have to worry about ripping them off. I'm going to install a lever type lap belt so it's thicker and easier to get on and off. I am going to move my control arm brackets up higher on my rear axle. 90% of my "stucks" came from hanging them up on rocks. The tube doors didn't work that well, they bent pretty easy. I'll reinforce them or toss them in favor of a removable kidney bar. Finally, I'd like to go to a 38" tire. I think that's the max that my wheelbase and axle strength can handle and the extra half inch would be a welcome benefit.
Wheelbase stretch...
Stretching the Jeep to about 105" wheelbase would be great for some of those obstacles we took (so would 40" tires). But, that would mean not having a street legal vehicle (I'm pushing it now), and I like driving my Jeep around too much. Maybe some day
