I'd say 38" tires are the maximum you could run on a stock wheel base. But, remember that it will take a lot of modifications to run tires that big.
I'd say there are better alternatives to the Antirock. I liked disconnects except for the hassle of reconnecting them. They felt good on road and off road. The Antirock feels good off road but really sux on road. I think the best alternative is a dual rate swybar like the ORO unit. It will feel stable on road and allow enough travel off road.
Hope that helps.

Is the question what's the largest tire that can be run on a TJ, or what's the largest tire a stock TJ can run? Without any specifics on your vehicle, it's hard to answer that question in a way you want.
I had an AR on a TJ and was ok with it. I run an ORO dual rate currently and think it is better. I'd really like an ORO dual rate with quick disconnects on the bottom and a mount up top in my wheelwell. There are times when I'd prefer no connection.
I think 31's work best on a stock TJ, and 32's will rub.

there are so many variables answering this question.
How far are you willing to mod the TJ?
If not at all, or very little: 31s
There are alot of choices to get to 35s with stock axles.
If you are willing to swap out axles, do some sawzall work, or get custom fenders then the upper end is more open ended.

I would stay away from Fabtech lifts. Check out the Rubicon Express 5.5" long arm lift.

I'd recomend the Goodyear MT/R 37" tires. If you want bigger, look at the Super Swamper Iroks.

Well, you don't need monster tires to run hard trails. You could do most of the trails at the Hammers with 35" tires, two lockers, and the guts to do it.

Stock axles so it sounded like what John(-DF) was looking for. It looks like it's a couple years old. I'd shoot for a tire in the low 50s if I was him.

8 inch lift? I think you might want to go into your bathroom, pull down your pants and look in the mirrow and see if you are over compensating for something to small

Is that why you want to run 40s
I thought rob was trying to do it with only 4 1/2 inches of lift

Big tires, big feet, big hands, and 3 1/2 inches of lift 😀

Easy Rob. This John character obviously knows that lift is the single most important thing you can do for a wheeler. In fact, I was just out working in the shed and came across some old 3" lift blocks. I was thinking about bolting them on. That would put me right around 8". Then I could easily clear 44s.
