Found these for cheaper from a private seller. These seem worth using for long arms or something else?
Ad just caught my eye as for something down the road in hopes of capitalizing.

and a partridge in a pear tree!!! lol
Yeah, I recall ruffstuff, but the price is hard to ignore for the set I found (8). Just a pair from ruffstuff is $125. There are some slight differences b/t the referenced set and ruffstuff, but I'm not versed in all this yet. You pro guys gotta speak up since not all of us are built up. 😀
Is there something about that set that is just a pure no-no technically? Any of you build your own control arms or links?

Looks like Joe is in the "go big or go home" crowd.
But seriously there are some states, for whatever reason, don't allow heim joints in the suspension. Not sure why unless it is a DOT approved thing. Is this mod OK in California for street driven vehicles? Only because I've thought of it myself.

Here is a pic of some of the stuff I'm using today. 1 1/4 shank stuff. Currie housing, metal cloak bushing and weld ring, CM cryo Hiem, Ballistic Fab joint. Also the arms I had made up out of 1.8 dia. drill stem. Wall is .600 and at the threaded ends it is .335 thick. Had the stuff rockwelled a while back but can't find the paperwork. It was hard but did not seem too hard at the time and the machinist was willing to give it a try on his cnc. It took a long time. How do you think this steel will work out?

I have been told that they are not DOT approved but that has not stopped most people.

Lower control arms on white jeep. There is a LOT of different joints on the market. I am trying something that will have some "give" to them and have some rotation to them. "Give" because i tore some stuff up this season and have not replaced ALL of the stock brackets. Rotation because I don't like how most bushings add to the spring rate and are not as supple. The "cloak" bushing has a football shaped insert encased in torsion rubber that flexes easily and rotates within the housing. It is of the zero pre-load type. The other big joint gives you a choice of races. Sintered bronze, teflon, nylon and poly. I'm trying the poly. Adjustable pre-load. I would resist the urge to use anything smaller joint wise on lower control arms. Need something that will take a beating. Even if you don't wheel hard you will end up hitting something or sliding off something so it needs to more than able to handle it! 2" dia. 1/4 wall DOM is somewhat std. for Jeep lower control arms. I'm just tired of bending the 1.25" studs that RE arms have on them so I'm trying something else 'cause I drive bad. Know anything about the so called shock proof drill stem I used for arms?

Here is a little more info on the MetalCloak DUROFLEX joint that Joe is talking about, the info is on the control arm page of the web site however if you scroll down there is the best description I can figure out how to make there. These bushings give all and more vibration dampening of a clevite but with rotational qualities of a bearing and still has more misalignment than a solid joint. Joe is one of the first to fab up his own set up with our joints and I am looking forward to seeing his progress!

I too am looking at joints and have heard bad things about Ballistic Joints. I have been heavily considering the Ruffstuff heims but I've heard over time they start banging/ clanking. They are also half the price of Johny Joints, but I hate my suspension making noise. So I am 90% leaning towards the JJ's. But i might explore the joints that Joe is talking about.

Another one of the guy's i know is running them on his LJ that is in your weight class. Using poly inserts with no problems. Not afraid to put the hemi on the revlimiter if needed. There are a fair amount of larger joins over 3" on the market. I'll call a buddy who's into the the truck thing and get some info for you. just called- he's at an event so it will be next week. Any idea of what you are looking for in a joint?

Oops, just saw this post. I'm using the 1.25 shank housing only, metalcloak joint inside. So far it's doing fine and has the feel I was looking for. Might finnish some of the fab work next week to put 4 more up front.

So far I like them. They test somewhat different than other mfg's do. Besides having a pretty good test driver they do a thing called a corner travel index( i think thats what they called it ) where they lift opposite corners of the vehicle both ways.heres a couple of pics to give you an idea. No pics, can't remove enough pixles from the photo to load on our site. Re-sized on camera.
