This is picture from the Truckee CHP's Facebook page. The Jeep was stuck on the Tahoe end of the Rubicon after it broke down. They were going to make a parts run and then the monster snows came. They recently located the Jeep which sustained significant damage from the weight of the snow.

Wow! I've never been that stuck. Bummer for the owner.

There are threads on pirate4x4 and reno4x4 on the subject that have both been heavily redacted due to all the comments.  The father was coming out of the con in a group of toyotas and he blew his spare tire on cadilliac hill.  He limped to Observation Point where he took his main rim (also with a blown tire from the previous day) and rode back with another in his group.  It snowed a little that night and the next day he got his son to drive him in in the son's XJ (also his DD) to try and swap the tire and limp his rig off the trail.  They got stuck 3 miles in (about at miller lake) and had to hike out (or ride with someone else, the threads have been redacted so I am going off memory).  Then it snowed and this picture was the first attempt at recovery of the first rig.  Given the steep sidehill and elevation gain before reaching the point, it isnt likely they will get the other rig out till the end of the month.

That is so sad for that father and son!  It could so happen so easily to anybody!
