My friend Scott, who owns an 08 2dr jk came to work this morning telling me of a problem with his steering wheel. He told me he was wheeling down a dirt hill and that at the bottom he caught the drivers front tire in a deep rut. Violently pulling the wheel through his hands, almost laying the jeep on its side. I did not ask how fast he was going. The problem he showed me was that his steering wheel was upside down and he could still drive straight down the road. I myself don't know alot about jk jeeps but I would not think this was possible without major steering damage to any 4 wheeler. So I figured I'd ask. Is it possible? I looked under his jk (my first time under a jk) and didn't see anything amiss other than his pitman arm has a curve to it.
His jeep sits on 35's and stock jk axles.

Have you checked the alignment is everything tracking true or is one there toe out? If its tracking true, and he is lucky he just twisted the spring on the inside of the steering wheel. It has happened to me before. There is an internal "clock" spring that tells the system when the steering wheel in in the straight up/down orientation. It is possible for this to get twisted and not come back to its original state.
It is also possible, but not likely that he stripped the steering box a few degrees and this is causing the wheel to be off. Neither situation is good, both you would want to have looked at as it will only be a matter of time when wheeling when he could lose control. The clock spring is cheaper than the steering box.
