4 wheel parts always seems crazy expensive for labor. And they sounded like they had no idea what they were talking about on the phone. I had called about regearing.

I agree. It's been a couple of hours and they still don't have the quote figured out. They have no clue.

Also, WFO wants to charge me 7 hours labor for just a box and a pump. Does that seem correct?

That seems like a lot! scared

Last time I spoke with WFO they had not installed an XD box yet.  I know they have installed hydro assist.  Not sure what it takes as Jeff helped with my install.

Um...what?

Thanks for all the help guys. With the crazy price of ram assist, I'll probably just go with the XD Box.

Or, just run the stock with the sector shaft brace and see how long it goes before it starts puking or breaks.

I'd really like to eliminate the breakage though because I don't want to have to leave my Jeep on the trail.

There's a few spare boxes in the club, I doubt you'd have to leave it on the trail.  Just maybe have to make a crappy repair on the trail.

I'm curious if it's worth buying a backup pitman arm for my XD box.  As there are not many spares laying around.

Um...what?

Probably not a bad idea. I've only seen one broken pitman arm but it was very nice having a spare on the trail.

For what it's worth John, we have a sector shaft brace & so far haven't had any problems. If we happen to be on a run with you, we carry an spare pitman arm.

Good to know. Thank you.

BTW, I was admiring your coil-overs the other night. The Jeep sure is coming along nicely.

Okay, here is what WFO is recommending;

They want to install the PSC Cylinder Assist Box (not the XD Box) that is tapped along with the PSC High Flow Pump.

The box has cylinder assist for more turning force than the stock box but retains the stock valving. In other words it is supposed to feel about the same as the stock box but is supposed to turn 37s a little easier. I would also be able to use my sector shaft brace for strength and reinforcement. Lastly, the box is tapped so when I go with bigger tires I would just have to add the ram and be done.

It seems like a reasonable idea to me... but it's WAY out of my price range at $2,700.00... throw-rock

That is basically what Jeff is running right now.  He has all the upgrades installed minus the ram.  I'm really impressed with the feeling of the steering even without the ram.

Um...what?

I'm saving up for it... It seems like a smart setup.

Just to through a wrench into everything, PSC announced this box which is even bigger and badder than the XD box: http://www.pscmotorsports.com/.....ear.html

Pricey though and I'm not sure if you can just swap the box in and cll it good for now.

Um...what?

Thanks Greg. Bookmarked. That thing's a BEAST.

Add a high flow pump and beef up the frame around the mounts and I bet it would do well with 40s...
