I have a line up on a Klune V "David" 4:1 What do you guys think. This would bolt in between the trany and t-case the same as a doubler. I would get a 4:1, 2.72:1, or a 10.88:1. lol mr-green

I looked into the same before getting the atlas. If I remember correctally you will still have the same RPM limit as a terra low(2500 when 1-1), it will put more stress on a 231 than it can handle. It was recomended to me to use the JB 231 upgrade kit and or use the goliath unit to end up with a std low and low-low of 5.44-1. I think it was North something 4x4 in the la area that klune refered me to. They were the ones who gave the info to me and were doing installs at the time. I had a stick at the time so there recomendation was based on the higher off throttle shock load of the manual trans. Went something like this.. you got say 200 ftlbs torque x 4( with david 4:1 ) now your putting 800 ftlbs to the 231 while its in high range

I loved my 10.9:1. 8) I'm with Joe though. You have to be really careful when multiplying the torque like that.

What does such a Klune run in cost anyways? I just came across that I was looking into this whole doubler fiasco. 😉 My learning is that 203/205 is most common. Also kits for 231/205 in the $500ish range. I came across the Klune via the High Impact Transmission site, whom are located here in Carmichael.

Pretty darn cool

I've been looking at the different alternatives as well. A Klune (or the like) or a doubler is on my radar downstream as well.

Joe This is what I have. It is a Np231HD with HD sye from JB Conversions. I was told it was a np241 And I believed it untill I dug up the paper work.

The NP231HD is built with every possible strength upgrade including all that is available through the aftermarket and original equipment manufacturer (NVG). We begin with a bare, empty case and fill it with new components consisting of the following:

•Wide chain (genuine Borg-Warner Morse)
•Wide-tooth main sprocket and front output shaft
•Heavy Duty SYE kit with 32 spline output shaft
•6 pinion planetary gear set
•Choice of input gear spline (21, 23, 27, 29 or 32 spline)
•New bearings, seals, small parts, filter pickup, thrust washers, etc.
•New replacement front output yoke is optional
The 231HD is a direct, bolt-in replacement for any Dodge or Jeep NP231 transfer case. Bolt patterns and shifting patterns are the same as your original unit. Vacuum actuated front axles are also accommodated.

Only new case halves are used in our product.

Time to give the t-case a good flushing and refill w/ Amsoil or Royal Purple. She's gonna get some PRESSURE!

If the case blows up then I have the reason to get something better.
