Save your money. Get an ARB for the rear and do it right!

Then save for the front.

Anything you do that involves settling will come back to haunt you.

Listen to Brad. I settled on something else then paid again later to get the ARB's.

If you drive a tj, which I think you do, you definitely want a selectable locker. I ran a Detroit in my LJ and it was super squirrely.

Um...what?

The Detroit in my TJ got to be really bad too. At first I didn't think it was bad, but as time and miles went on it got worse. I don't know if I was just more tolerant at first or if it actually got worse with more mileage on it. Eventually it got to the point I was uncomfortable driving it on the street and wouldn't let anyone else drive it.

If you have the D35 in the rear and still have stock axle shafts I'd do chromoly axle shafts before a locker. Or replace the D35 entirely. :)

I drive a yj, and it is the stock axels and drive shaft. I’ll have to look into the chromoly axle shafts. I would really love to do an axel swap, but seems like a ton of work for someone like me that doesn't know too much about it haha

It doesn't have to be difficult to upgrade axles. Here's a bolt in sample: http://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Drivet.....YJ-A48835D

Of course you'd want to shop around and select the options you need. There are other axle swap choices that may be more budget friendly but they may require more knowledge and work on your part.

I would vote to replace the axle as a unit. There are some good used axles out there. You could find an already upgraded D44 or D60 for the same price as a new ARB. I know its not a JK, but just for example sakes. A rear JK D44 with the electric locker is usually around $1000. A new ARB runs $900-$1000.

Jason has a point. My JKU D44 with an elocker went for only 650 bucks.

My rear TJ D44 with an ARB and better shafts got me only slightly more.

My front D30 with an ARB only got me 250,

Alright this is what I've decided to do axel swap ford 8.8 in the rear, and save money for a future front differential adventure. Haha so if any one knows where a good ford 8.8 is let me know!!party
